We need to be on our best behavior

trump and his entire administration are trying their best to self destruct, and we need to let them do so without distracting the media, right wingers, and each other.

We do not need to become the story, Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher. We do not need to give the rw'ers who have been silent in their defense of trump something to point at and shout about. We do not need to give ammo to the media who likes to report that "both sides do it". We need to stop assisting in their promoting the idea of a false equivalency.

We also do not need to devour each other with infighting and purity tests for our candidates. We need Dems to win in every possible race. We need Dems in Congress to vote for impeachment and removal. We need Dems at the state level to change gerrymandering, secure voting, and governors to support Democratic ideals.

trump is losing and an unprecedented number of his administration are under investigation and pending prosecution. In opposing trump, we need to stay out of his way as he goes down. We can still protest and be vocal, but WE MUST BE SMART and avoid the longstanding circular firing squads and self defeatism that our Party is known for.

Lets be on our best behavior for just a little longer and keep the downfall of the trump administration the lead story and not distract the public or the media from this by pointless jokes, tweets, or missteps.

Ok, now flame away and tell me how I'm wrong.

Peace

I could not agree more. All of this outrage begins a righteous and then gets taken up by the bots and the haters on the right and becomes weaponized against the left.

We need top keep out eye on the ball and forsake the outrage du-jour.

It reminds me of the messages I always heard growing up:

Behave yourself
Stay out of the way
Avoid offending anyone
Don't have strong opinions
Be quiet

Fuck this. Either we have free speech or we don't.

In *my* opinion? The apologies were worse than the offending actions because they shut down avenues of meaningful conversation about words, imagery, context and meaning. I mean, if you're willing to put yourself out there and say or do something that you have to know is offensive to people, you'd damn well be ready to explain it, without apology.

We must be focused. We must be diligent. Every other word out of our mouth must be either Russia or Impeach.

We need just the opposite. We need to resist, we need to fight back. This isn't going to be easy. These criminals won't just go away. A multinational criminal conspiracy stole the 2016 Presidential Election and likely many seats in Congress, our government is illegitimate, we are technically an occupied nation.
We need millions of people in the streets, peacefully! Bring things to a halt and don't let the repukes pass anything. Nothing, no budgets, no appointments, help our remaining reps bring this stolen government to a grinding halt.
The entire executive branch will need to be replaced and removed to root out the criminals, this is unprecedented in American history. We are in the moral equivalent of a civil war!
Take the lead from our brave heroine Maxine Waters, impeach! Impeach! Impeach! Repeat it over and over.
Nancy Pelosi will be our first (sitting) female president, we all know Hillary rightfully won the election. Maxine Waters should be the VP with the special title of chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Comission.
Yes, the OP,makes some good points but we aren't going to win this lying down, I would bet my house Republican Senators such as McCain, Graham and Susan Collins have spoken with certain higher ups in the US military. Even the 25th amendment may be useless because tRumps cabinet is full of criminal conspirators. This could get "interesting".
Before this is all over we may need to fight side by side with true patriots from our military. Trump supporters are well armed and set to explode if their fuehrer is forcibly removed from office. We saw just last week what kind of mayhem one trump supporter caused on a train in Portland. Multiply that by several million and throw in 8 years of gun fueled hysteria and bullet hoarding orgy in rascist red counties all across our country and we have the makings of a nightmare.
Just remember, we are the party of peace. They start wars, we end them.

We can resist and be very vocal without sabotaging our efforts. Stupid tweets and racist jokes, followed by drawn out apologies is what we need to avoid. I didn't mean you should shut up and sit down, but we can resist in the tradition of Gandhi and MLK right now. We need to avoid things that will lead the rw to point at us and the media to say "see, they're just as mean and nasty as rw'ers".

March, be loud, but come correctly and don't hang trump in effigy or smash windows or resort to violence, not now. There's a time and a place and now is a time for us to show the stark differences between us and them.

And trust me, being on my best behavior is not my favorite thing but it's a necessary part of being an adult. It's about exercising impulse control, keeping your eye the prize and not getting distracted by anything. The prize is Twitler and his minions out of office and until then it's obstructing them at every turn. We don't have the time, energy, or resources to get sucked into diving down rabbit holes. We are doing a great job and we need to keep on doing it. Will people make mistakes? Of course they will but we don't need to get caught in a feeding frenzy where we eat our own.
