OK, DU...is it helping that I am now posting text from tweets as well as the tweets themselves?

This isn't really a thread for people who hate Twitter and don't want to see tweets in any form on DU.

This is a direct response to the folks who have said (to others, not me specifically) "I don't have Twitter" or "I can't see the tweets."

So I have been doing this:

If you find this helpful, I'm happy to continue. If you don't, or no one cares, I'm going to go back to just posting the tweets themselves.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'm not enthusiastic about clicking on blind tweets or links, and most of the time won't.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

We see so much pass by on twitter, sometimes its eye opening to read how others like us go after the trump defenders.

No objection from me

Tweets can be deleted and Twitter can go down (it's happened a couple of times in the past few months, and when it does none of the linked tweets display on DU).

I don't think there's much you can do if the tweet relies on embedded video, though - I've tried digging around in Twitter's code, but there doesn't seem to be any way to isolate moving images so they can be posted as a working URL on DU.

...I've been self-employed since 2001 so it's been a long time since anyone blocked what I do on the Web.

For that reason, and the other reasons listed here, I'll continue doing this.

Generally I read the tweets themselves, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra 140 characters in the post.

I wish everyone did it. Thank you!

((My phone is SUCH a piece of trash. I'm not sure what it is, but every time I leave a site to another site on mobile, there's like a random 20% chance the entire browser will just shrug, give up, and turn itself off. It's INFURIATING! ))

I read the text and then the tweet only to find it's a repeat. It might be more obvious if the tweet came first. Not really sure, though.
