Nay
(12,051 posts)(This was in 1965.) It didn't even base the program on communist propaganda -- we were given a list of propaganda techniques and/or logic errors and we had to find examples of that propaganda technique in newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes, books, etc. and bring them in to class. IIRC, we got points for the number of examples we brought in.
So, cereal boxes : endorsement by celebrity/expert (does a celebrity paid to be on a cereal box really know what you should eat for breakfast?)
And on and on. Honestly, if we could get teenagers to spurn even half of the propaganda that comes their way, we might make a dent in this shit. But, frankly, propaganda is based on how the human being works in social groups, so it'll be a long haul.
