to describe or act as a synonym for Trump. Yes, there's "asshole," and "douchebag," and a few other choice appellations, but those are words that we also use to describe minor players like the obnoxious ex-boyfriend or the rude co-worker or the neighbor who mows his lawn at 7:00 on Saturday mornings. There are also a few delightfully descriptive phrases, like "tiny-fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret-wearing shitgibbon." But there doesn't seem to be a singe word that adequately describes the uniquely monumental and bizarre awfulness of the current squatter in the White House.
There needs to be such a word. A special word. Maybe it's just "trump." Maybe future generations will reserve that word for the worst people in their lives. Maybe someday the gravest possible insult will be "You're a trump!"

(65,318 posts)Lincoln assassination, so maybe that will happen to "Trump," too. Already the Trump business is trying to rebrand new offshoots as " Scion" because the Trump brand is now a major liability.

Maybe someday parents will tell their naughty children, "If you don't clean up your room your name will be Trump around here!"

(101,301 posts)I think there are a few names or short phrases for someone with his loyalty and care for his country. But short phrases for someone so unsuited to the office he has occupied? Tricky. "Caligula", maybe?

(65,318 posts)which is where the saying "Your name is/will be Mudd" comes from.

(101,301 posts)"A popular theory for this expression's origin derives it from Dr. Samuel Mudd, the physician who was convicted as conspirator after he set the broken ankle of President Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth. But the expression was first recorded in 1823, when mud was slang for a stupid person or fool, a usage dating from the early 1700s. Later the term mud simply alluded to discredit."
