Sen. Feinstein: Why do you believe you were fired?
Comey: "I assume it had to do with the Russia investigation... something about the way I was conducting it... the president felt there was pressure on him that he wanted to relieve...
I watched his interview, I read the press accounts of his conversations... I take (Trump) at his word."
watch:
...I just got back from taking a lap around the house! Wow.
Comey is solidly framing this as obstruction, even if he doesn't draw that conclusion.
Comey dishing more...

(478 posts)They were unprepared, hostile and couldn't even conceal the fact that they were NOT going to cooperate with this committee hearing.
bigtree
(85,986 posts)...even if they didn't characterize it that way, it's almost certain they were covering-up contacts with Trump which could be construed as coercion or interference, in a political sense, if not in a legal one.
Otherwise, they would have been more than eager to share.

(985 posts)That reveals no confidential info. that compromises an investigation. This needs to be revealed in public testimony so that Congress has the public support to take action on it. Isn't it contempt if you refuse to answer direct questions without pleading the 5th, or some other acceptable reason?

They did hedge by suggesting they might reveal all in closed session, but at least three of them claimed to need to meet with the WH counsel before giving such testimony.
I'd imagine Democrats on the committee haven't given up in seeking that testimony.

(41,831 posts)Would they rather have Pence as President or keep Trump in place...either way, they still win and will fuck with this country.

The crimes and evidence don't just expire because republicans leave it be. All of this is accumulative.

We are in the process of defending and recovering our democracy. I'm encouraged by their arrogance. It will be their undoing.

(24,282 posts)as long as he continues to sign anything they put in front of him without even reading it.
As much as I hate Pence, I think he is able to read things, and therefore would not be as useful to Ryan and McConnell as Trump.

(85,986 posts)...they have the tax thing... and they have the AHCA bomb they're considering strapping on and imploding their party on the House floor.
After that plays out, they just might just decide Trump is not only useless, but realize he's a liability.
but don't forget the mountains of gun and anti-abortion legislation they want. Sure, Pence would sign on to that, but like I said, Trump will sign it without even reading it.
At this point, I cant even imagine what it would take for Trump to become a liability for them. He's done so much already. Even if he started WWIII, they would see it as an opportunity to make money.
I'm being a little cynical here, but I'm sure you get my drift.

No Republican can win any election if Fox turns against him/her.
