The House Intelligence Committee on Friday wrote to White House Counsel Don McGahn requesting he hand over copies of any tape recording between Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey to the extent they exist now. The committee set a deadline of June 23.
The committee also wrote to Comey requesting any notes or memoranda in his possession memorializing his conversations with the president.
The request comes one day after Comey testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, confirming, under oath, that Trump demanded his loyalty and asked him to quash the FBIs investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn.
The Senate Intelligence Committee likewise wrote to Comeys good friend, Columbia professor Daniel Richman, requesting any copies of the former FBI directors memos he may possess. Comey on Thursday testified he asked Richman to share details of his conversations with the president to the press.

(18,837 posts)My guess is that when the tapes that do not exist are not produced, it will just be more Republican spin.
