The word of the day is confabulation

Yesterday I visited my mother in what is euphemistically called the memory unit. She has a new lift chair. When I asked her how she liked it, her response was, "Oh, I can't sit in it because it's broken and dangerous."

What was really going on was that she was afraid of it because she couldn't remember how to use it. But in her mind it was broken and dangerous and that was the truth. Making up stories to cover memory gaps is very common behavior in elderly people with memory issues. It's called confabulation and is not conscious lying but simply an attempt of the brain to make sense of what it can't remember.

What frightens me is that I think I saw the President of the United States doing the same thing in the Rose Garden yesterday.

the New York Post...he said stuff...he went on Stern's show...my Dad had friends who had worked with him and were left bleeding and broken...bankrupt. He was always an asshat, but he could talk, and he loved attention and the media...this guy can barely form a coherent though...I think he has some form of dementia. My Gran was like that and it got much worse.

I don't believe he is stupid...but Trump has all the signs of dementia. Go back and listen to his words even a few years ago...there is something wrong with him...reminds me of the early/middle days when my Gran was losing her memory...it progresses with frightening speed once it gets going.

Trump definitely has dementia. But Bush was very stupid. Poorly educated, intellectually incurious, and a less than average IQ.

I totally agree! The only thing that has changed is everyone is focused on everything he says unlike before where most just saw the con man/showman/bullshitter FACADE! Now he has to think & answer questions instead of hiding behind a reality TV show script. IMHO. I specifically remember the guy who wrote "The Art of the Deal" for Trump coming out publicly fairly early in the GOP primary (I think) who said he felt he had to go public because Trump is not qualified at all to be POTUS! He even said they could only work on the book 10-15 minute periods because Trump has the attention span of a child. (Not sure if he "child&quot I think about that guy all the time!

He is an habitual liar, it has been his pattern all his life.

He exhibits behaviors of someone who has memory issues. He often makes references to deny things he said which are easily proven by recordings.

Is there no one in his life who can confront him and challenge his increasingly bizarre behavior? I guess no one loves him and wants to protect him from embarrassment.

Someone needs to say "the emperor has no clothes".

will correct him, their livelihood depends on daddy. Besides, he has ALWAYS been this way, why would they notice anything wrong? What strange looking people they are. Donald Jr. looks demented. Ivanka has a mouth like one of those grotesque low up dolls. Eric - well - what can I say about him??

But that now, thanks to dementia, he is not only an inept liar but is no longer fully aware that he's lying.

8. That is the problem

It is a biological and medical problem. The president has a medical condition, a brain disease, that needs treatment. It could be a late-stage STD as he famously bragged, or it could be many other brain-related diagnoses. Because of the stigma his strange behavior is characterized as his own free will. It is not. He is a sick man.

But he's also a lying, cheating, bullying arsehole. He may well be ill but I don't like it being used as an excuse for his behaviour. Trump has been a thug and a stand-over man all his life. Some people just have no moral substance. He is one of them.

I think the majority that what Twitler does is nothing more than a dog and pony shoe, Nero fiddling, sleigh of hand...To elaborate while most are focused on on his sleigh of hand, his minions are very very busy deconstructing the American way. DEVOS is nixing public education, public lands are being prepared for exploration....even uranium mining in the grand Canyon, Scott is reversing epa regulations and allowing brain damaging chemicals to be used, trying to sell interstates to foreign entities to erect toll bridges, Dodd Frank id dead or dying, the senate is trying to push through Trumpgate health with no discussion, etc..

So as we focus on a tv character that Really knows his roles and is not the goof we often think he is, our world changes without little or no debate. He seems to be winning at every turn......the news seem to be controlled by his tweets....

God i hope I am wrong.......

12. *45 is a typical con man /"short term liar"...Mr. Flim-Flam is used to telling the same lie to lots

of different audiences... each audience hearing the lie for the first time...

By the time any communication would occur between audiences, *45 was long gone -- off telling some new lie....
And most of the time no one was ever the wiser...
And those who knew his pattern were
either benefiting from his ability to lie
Or knew not to buy in to his grandiose twisted tales..

No grave global consequences were ever a potential result of his lies... until now.

The worst outcome would be a financial loss experienced by those who chose to believe him...

Now,an entire country's liberty, freedom, constitutional foundation, & fiscal sustainability has been jeopardized......

There are still hoardes of the Faux-Noize faithful that are sticking by their guns (oh, god if only I didn't mean that literally ) and getting it reinforced daily. It's not just the word today, it's the word till undeniable facts win over fantasy, it's been the word ever since the MAGAS started chanting "lock her up".
And... and... and... boo hoo hoo... sob... If only Roger Ailes were still alive to watch his FrankenTrump creation burn... waaaaah...
