The GOP is seriously considering the creation of a constitutional crisis...

From the way they have acted in their Committee hearings, by shutting down questioning by some Democrats (Kamala Harris), they appear ready to support the entire shutdown of the investigation into Russian meddling in our elections and any suspicious activities by the Trump campaign and transition team.

If Trump shuts down the Special Prosecutor, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan will go along with him and take their chances in the next election, rather than drag this out until then. They would prefer to take a hit now than wait to take a hit later.

It is much more a real possibility, in my opinion, than we might think. They are carrying the water for Donald Trump in this matter. We do not see any independent thought from the GOP.

that trump plans on firing mueller and shutting down the investigation. This is witht the help of new fbi director who has likey pledged loyalty to trump.

If the reports are true that Ryan and possible mcconnell both benefited from russian donors, then it is their highest priority to shut down the investigation.

So Trump would have to first fire Rosenstein, then replace him with a toady willing to be complicit in Obstruction and Abuse of Power to get Mueller shut down.

I don't think he (or his staff) is that stupid.

in the matter. He'd have to nominate his personal atty, I think, to find someone willing to wade into this morass and become, at this point, an accomplice.

I could be totally wrong that they'll go down this path but it only makes things worse for him and the Repubs in the long run if they meddle with the investigation.

Every poll that has been taken shows more and more support for impeachment. Eventually the GOP will clue in on this--probably right around the time they pass tax cuts.

and who said that Rosenstein won't 'resign'? Replacement with loyalists and immidiately gaslighting.

I beleive trump can only be forcefully removed. He'll stop at nothing including nuclear threat to stay in power and complete transition to authiritarian oligarchy. We are at the very very beginning of it all. Nothing is off the table at this point including the collapse of the US economy.

The curcumstances of current events are different from anything frim history books so there is no precedent or rules. All you need to keep in mind is his goal. And it will become obvious to you how he can possibly achieve all that. Not pretty, I know.

theoretically. Rosenstein is the "top boss" for the Russia investigation. And if Rosenstein goes for the sake of shutting down the investigation , that's another charge against Trump and Sessions if the matter is investigated again (say should we win the House).

Also, the NY AG is, I'm pretty certain, investigating Trump and his org on other matters.

Finally, the statute of limitations on Obstruction is 5 years, so if we win in 2020, the case can be reopened.

there are cops standing right there. you run over to them and point at the robber who is attacking your loved one.

They look over there and shrug. "So what?" They say.

Now what do you do? What is your recourse when the law would rather allow a crime to go on than intervene? Who do you go to?

and then on top of it, they arrest you for being a "leaker".

the election was actually a coup brought about by an act of war perpetrated by the Russian government and its dictator Putin with seemingly full collusion of the republican party and conservative "news" outlets like Fox?

Oh and not to forget Jill Stein and the Green party, BoB's like TYT's and rich so-called libs like Sarandon.

I have to wonder how deep the planning was between these groups and Moscow?

He's done either way.

Edited to add: He may as well go ahead and fire Mueller.....he knows he is caught, and that Mueller will bring him down. The firing of Mueller won't work, and deep down he knows the chances are slim, but if he doesn't throw every hail Mary he's got (and there will be more), he may as well just march himself down to a federal prison, because again.....he's caught and he knows it.

The crisis is that the GOP controls the government and they are not the majority party by along shot.
