I'm thinking of similarities between the current GOP and the movie 'The Firm'

In that movie the law firm hires ambitious young lawyers and then makes sure to get something dark to blackmail them with later so they can force them to do what they want.
During the campaign many of the GOP spoke out against Trump and even insulted him. One by one they have all clammed up even after he has ruined their reputations , insulted them & so on. Suddenly they all fell in line like tin soldiers. It really makes me wonder if someone doesn't have something on all of them.

Below is what was written about that movie 'The Firm' for those who never saw it:

Mitch McDeere is a young man with a promising future in Law. About to sit his Bar exam, he is approached by 'The Firm' and made an offer he doesn't refuse. Seduced by the money and gifts showered on him, he is totally oblivious to the more sinister side of his company. Then, two Associates are murdered. The FBI contact him, asking him for information and suddenly his life is ruined. He has a choice - work with the FBI, or stay with the Firm. Either way he will lose his life as he knows it. Mitch figures the only way out is to follow his own plan..

and probably many, many rank and file members--have been compromised by Russian money.

They are all or almost all compromised.

We can't tell for certain whether they're Russian compromised OR just a regular old money/power grabbing politician devoid of dignity or moral/ethical standing?

It's what the Russians do, too. I'm assuming that Trump owes a shitload of money to the Russians, but I also think they have something more on him, like in the Steele Dossier. He's a wholly owned subsidiary of Putin and the Russians.
