(15,682 posts)the other night. She was hungry first. After we ate she was too tired to see a movie.
My youngest is 23 years old. Lol.

(16,104 posts)Never got into 'male superhero' movie franchises.
She liked 'Harry Potter' Hermione, 'Hunger Games' movies, and 'Divergent' series. All strong, heroic women!
"Everybody needs a hero!"

(15,682 posts)and Divergent books first. She was excited when Hunger Games hit the theaters. Katniss became her hero to the point that her boyfriend took her to archery lessons so she could be Katniss! She loved it!
She's a little more grown up now. She went to film School and is now working as a set designer in LA. She works for Funny or Die quite a bit (really excellent gig) when she's not working on a feature film. But she misses home. She just moved about 6 months ago so she comes down for mommy love (and daddy will-you-buy-me love) when she has a full day and night off. She really was tired when we tried to see Wonder Woman. I really miss her. I'm afraid now I may have to see Wonder Woman alone with her father. He'll ruin it, blabbing all the way through about every little thing he finds wrong with it.

(904 posts)I thought you didn't know that Captain Marvel was actually the other Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers)
My bad.

(13,081 posts)Let that phrase sink in: "comic book room." I know what I'm talking about
The new Ms. Marvel is awesome, by the way. I thought it was going to be pandering bullshit, but she's easily the best new character from a cape book in years.

(7,808 posts)Wonder Woman has been great for kids, especially girls.
As for the male-based super hero movies, I enjoy them, too. The women in them aren't shrinking violets: Jane Foster was in charge of the scientific research team, not the secretary. Don't forget the Black Widow! She not only kicked ass, but she can and did mentally manipulate bad guys into giving up their secrets by playing into their feelings of superiority.
Other strong women in leadership positions: Peggy Carter, Maria Hill, the Scarlet Witch, Sif, and Frigga. Apologies if I forgot anyone.

(16,296 posts)Sorry to say - except for the action scenes which basically had WW jumping and spinning - it was boring. Silly plot line, mishmash of mythology, and generally a big yawn.

(984 posts)Sorry, you didn't enjoy the film BUT it seems that most people & critics young and old are loving it and that's a good thing!

(25,839 posts)Sounds like an awful lot of kids under the age of 7 are watching it, which doesn't strike me as all that fabulous.
And no, kids are not that much more mature these days.
