Just to be clear, the a-hole terrorist who shot Scalise and others does not share Bernie's values.

Not even close.

Bernie is dedicated to non-violence and to letting all voices be heard, even those with whom he disagrees.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) defended Ann Coulter’s right to speak without disruption or intimidation and criticized those who seek to prevent controversial speakers from being heard on college campuses. As the the Huffington Post reports:

“I don’t like this. I don’t like it,” Sanders told The Huffington Post after speaking at a rally . . . “Obviously Ann Coulter’s outrageous ― to my mind, off the wall. But you know, people have a right to give their two cents-worth, give a speech, without fear of violence and intimidation.” . . .

beings like that.

There are a lot of good people right here at DU who supported Sanders, and they're just as appalled at this as we are.

The ones who might buy into that thinking are now at a different website.

but thank you for recognizing that, in the current DU climate, that it should be. The overwhelming majority of our members know full well that the American activist political left that Barnie Sanders (and that almost all of those who greatly respect him) belongs to holds deeply non violent, and genuinely prolife from cradle to grave beliefs.

Please, I am not trying to be inflammatory, but I am wondering.

While I agree that Bernie is non-violent, wasn't he PRO-gun?

Honestly, I have been under the impression that if Bernie took a stronger stance on common sense gun laws, he would have gotten the nominee for president and the reason he didn't is because of his laxed attitude towards guns.

(I.E. Amtrak and claiming how he came from a state where guns were used for hunting; I know he has an F rating at the NRA)

than did people from more traditional areas with progressive voters--urban centers--where guns are used to kill people instead of deer.

I volunteer on MDA and live in Texas where the Open Carry Groups were making regular national news, and I can say during the election I knew VERY few people that were pro-Bernie because they felt his stance on gun wasn't in line with theirs.

Back to the original point, though. He is definitely not responsible for the maniac today.
