CNN: Hate In Politics Has To Stop

(CNN)Shortly after Wednesday morning's attack on Republican members of Congress practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game, Congressman Rodney Davis, still in his baseball clothes, spoke to CNN's Brianna Keilar.
In addition to describing the events he witnessed, he spoke from the heart.

"This hatefulness that we see in this country today over policy differences has got to stop ... Republicans and Democrats need to use this day today to stand together and say 'stop.' Let's work together. Let's get things done," he said. "We can have our differences, but let's not let it lead to such hate."

We should all heed Congressman Davis' call, including our President. Since his announcement to run for office, Donald Trump has consistently yelled fire in a crowded political theater by castigating various segments of our population and encouraging his supporters to "knock the crap" out of protesters. And on and on.

Many Donald Trump supporters have followed his lead, escalating the rhetoric against political opponents and the media. A reporter was choke-slammed in Montana. And before Trump, too many Republicans engaged in awful and, let's face it, racist attacks on President Obama. Perhaps even worse, too many Republicans watched this happen and remained silent.

Meanwhile, town halls, opportunities that should allow for a respectful dialogue between elected officials and voters, have become opposition events where silencing and jeering the politician has become the norm.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/14/opinions/calm-the-rhetoric-heye/index.html

Funny because republicans are responsible for about 95% of the hate in this country. Maybe giving them the benefit of the doubt, a +-5% margin of error.

How about Alex "insane in the brain" Jones? How about the neo-nazi cartoon frog boys terrorizing women, liberals and persons of color all over the Internet?

Will any of the Republicans now wanting us all to sing "Kumbaya" be apologizing to President Barrack Obama and his family for the brutal, racist partisan rhetoric? How fucking many Republicans stood up and said "shut the fuck up, tRump*, there is no doubt President Obama was born in the United States and is a legal, lawful United States citizen"?

Rodney Davis is a Republican through and through and cares about no one except himself and his rich benefactors. He refused to hold town halls despite hundreds of constituents calling and waiting outside of his offices in extremely hot temperatures.

Maybe he has had a change of heart, but I doubt it. More than likely he is scared-- scared that some other angry citizen who has been kicked off healthcare, lost their job, and has nothing left to lose will come after the (Republican) members of Congress that they blame.

Republicans need to think long and hard about their calls for "2nd Amendment remedies."

But I don't recall too many calls for civility when conservatives were accusing President Obama of supporting "death panels" that would kill grandma and grandpa and holding signs depicting Obama as an African witch doctor plus all of the nutters on talk radio and the Internet claiming that Obama was the Antichrist, a communist, a fascist and an Islamic terrorist and using racial slurs and imagery against him and Michelle.

I don't doubt that there are crazy left-wingers. But let's not act like the nasty rhetoric started with the opposition to Trump.

But change is difficult.

Especially for those who truly hate. I guess the question goes: "OK, how much of a change do I need to make?"

I wouldn't worry about the change others have to make.

I once worked for a company that described itself as "management intensive". I started taking the Sloan Management Review from MIT and actually read it. And invariably a few months after an article in SMR, there would be somebody from the office spouting off some new management doctrine, that I had already read about. Others would be cursing and groaning about change. But I was already there.

I think there are a lot of "conservatives" who are weak, stupid and useful idiots for America's enemies. But I don't hate them. It's more like I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for Flynn who ruined an honorable career. I feel sorry for Sessions who has to dissemble and stonewall. And I feel sorry for Trump who puts himself in these ridiculous positions. And I feel sorry for Trump's family who has to listen to and see all the crap he attracts.

The Republicans need to take a good, long and sincere look at where we've come because of the hate that they inject.

Democrats are not always perfect but they no way even compare to the hate spewed by Republicans.

For repubs it means just agree with us without fighting, ok?

The moment a repub steps up and meets us half way on gun control by passing legislation requiring mental health checks....
Or
The moment a repub says let's not scrap the ACA, but let's work to make it better for all concerned...

That to me is meeting half way. We want fewer guns but we will settle for background checks. That's our half way. We want single payer but will settle for stronger exchanges. That's our half way. Where are the republicans?!?
