To political grievances? Seems like that advice may have been taken literally today. I remember Trump himself talking about there being possible 2A solutions if Hillary had won the presidency. I wonder if Republicans will stop being so cavalier about provoking the nutjobs out there?

(841 posts)The Republicans especially have been ratcheting up the rhetoric for years. Trump is just the latest manifestation of the phenomenon.
Democrats have bent over backwards to be nice and congenial but eventually you were going to have some nuts on the left radicalized too and today's tragedy is an example of that.
I think this is what happens when nothing constructive seems to get done and politics becomes perceived as a kind of existential war. The Merrick Garland debacle was really an eye-opener for me in terms of how bad politics has gotten and it is mostly the fault of the Republicans.

(2,955 posts)I like how you mention Garland. The Republicans LITERALLY stole a SCOTUS seat and there's nothing that can be done about it. It's clear as day that Trump and his team colluded with Russia to cheat their way to victory and NOTHING gets done about it. They're appointing climate deniers to lead the EPA, racist old dinosaurs like Sessions to lead the Doj, and trying to roll back all the progressive progress of the past 40 years. Two elections have been stolen in the past 16 years alone, and nothing ever gets done about it.
People are starting to feel desperate, and the system has been failing us.
