eds appear to backtrack on Trump event plannerís appointment as head of housing in New York

Federal housing officials appear to be backing away from the appointment of a Trump family wedding planner to run the office that oversees federal housing in New York.

On Thursday two federal officials had confirmed to the Daily News a start date of July 5 for Lynne Patton as the new administrator of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Developmentís Region II office.

Late Thursday Patton did not dispute the appointment when she tweeted out what appears to be a clarification of her resume.

But on Friday HUD spokesman Jereon Brown said "The position is vacant. Thereís been no official announcement."

The about face came following a wave of outrage that emerged about the appointment of Patton, who has zero housing experience, to run an office that distributes billions of taxpayer dollars to public housing authorities in New York and New Jersey, including the nationís biggest, NYCHA.

Early Friday Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) fired off a letter to President Trump demanding he withdraw the appointment.

1. Not to worry. Some openings may be coming up at the Justice Department.

The Trump Crew needs all the loyalists it can find
even if they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

2. Why would someone who is so patently unqualified even consider accepting the job?

This seems to be a particularly unique Republican phenomenon, to put people in management who are diametrically opposed to the function of the office they will head, or are so incompetently mismatched it seems like a selection error.

Logically, as a normal sort of person, I think I'd be flattered to be chosen for an important post, but then reality would kick in and I'd have a good laugh and then sober up. The only conclusion I could make is not to make myself look like a complete fool by saying, "Yeah, thanks and all, but no, I'm not the person you need."

4. "are so incompetently mismatched "

You don't need a very smart henchman at the helm if the only task is following orders on how to steal tax money.

5. True! And by that logic, why did Trump run?

It's not just that he ran, he also ran against one of the most qualified candidates ever to run for President! I suppose great narcissism knows no boundaries.

6. In the same bin as Sheriff Clarke?

Isn't it weird how the administration's alleged appointments sometimes don't quite pan out? Big announcement, splash!, backlash, never mind.
