The Trump administration has revoked DAPA, an Obama immigration program that never went into effect. At the same time, Trump is keeping in place DACA, the “mini-DREAM” act that protects young immigrants. In other words, Trump is killing a program that was already dead, and keeping a program that’s actually effective and has prevented thousands of potential deportations.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly announced Thursday that one of the illegal alien amnesty programs ordered by former President Barack Obama will be rescinded immediately.
The program, DAPA, was intended as a companion to the “Dream Act,” or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which stalled deportation for foreign children who were brought into the country illegally and granted them two-year work permits. DAPA, or the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, was implemented by executive action in November 2014.
However, the program remained in legal limbo after several states sued the government, saying that Obama had overstepped his constitutional authority and was illegally implementing “back-door amnesty.” A federal judge in Texas put a halt to the program in February 2015.
