(31,261 posts)This tragedy raises so many questions. How can a modern Navy ship not sense other vessels near it? Why aren't distress triggers placed in every chamber on Navy ships?

(32,928 posts)I couldn't find an official White House Statement either via Google. There is no Sec of the Navy yet(& that is due to donny boy not appointing one yet) Seventh Fleet did issue a statement.
.
Some loss this big would be worth getting an official statement out.

(83,645 posts)My dad was navy. A Captain on a minesweeper.
WWII he was in the Pacific awaiting orders to sweep the Sea of Japan.
Dump is a worthless POS and does not care one iota about our service men and women. May he rot in hell.

(20,212 posts)He was in the water thinking it was his last moments in ths world. He was rescued along with others, but then assisted with casualties, really horrific ones. I spare details. He came home and attempting to recount to my mom, she said he'd grit his teeth and tears would well up. My dad was a big, strapping guy but a softie in his heart. He passed on in front of me and my mom one Sunday morning, 45 years old. Aortic aneurysm. This is what pains me when I consider the arrogant self-serving clod who is supposed to be Commander in Chief of our nation. He knows not what sacrifice is. Fraud!

(83,645 posts)So sorry you lost your dad and I thank him for his service.

(20,212 posts)It's said there are wars of necessity and of convenience. I hate them all. War IS hell.
What also is hellish is what we got installed in the Peoples' House. A travesty of the highest degree. I don't know how this is going to play out. One minute I have confidence and some semblance of reassurance, then the next minute-distress, shakiness and freaking out.
It's unfathomable.
Peace be unto you as well.
