General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere is a whole LOT of speculation about Flynn flipping.
From Sen. Whitehouse tells Wolf Blitzer there is a lot of evidence Flynn is a cooperating witness with the FBI. He says, "That's a conclusion from all of the evidence and some experience in dealing with this."

Claude Taylor reported this on May 25
1. This is what I have from a source with knowledge of the investigation. "Flynn has begun the proffer process with U.S. Atty Office.

2. This involves him sitting down with the FBI & USAG and proferring what he could offer in a trial against his co-conspirators. If his
proffered info is deemed reliable, the government will file a 5k.1 motion, requesting a downward sentencing departure. This is absolute
4. fact. His proffer statement has begun". That's the full statement I received.
*clerical error by yours truly. It's a 5K1.1 motion. Error is mine. Sue me.
In addition to Claude, another poster I respect indicated he thought Flynn has happened as well. PostimusMaximus did/does the Trump/Russia wiki that is now hosted on Reddit that newspapers and magazines used to catch up and make their own timeline when they decided it was all a big deal.

Here is what he said today. I'll link the first tweet and if you are interested in the thread, click to read/see.
Since A senator reported it now I'll chime in...

I had heard from my own sources that Flynn was flipped around the time Mueller showed up. (We knew he was looking for a deal much earlier)
Don't know why they decided to take the offer finally (assuming its true based on senator's comments). Maybe firing Comey changed things.
Or maybe Mueller himself decided to flip people FBI wouldn't prior.
Didn't ask for details. Would still like 100 percent confirmation, but since it was a senator saying it I don't mind chatting.
I'd still wait on a direct statement before saying with 0 doubt Flynn has been flipped. Reporting trends indicate is plausible.

In addition, I don't think this is the first time the Senator has said this.

(5,268 posts)House committee today revealed Flynn had additional foreign meetings (including one involving a Saudi/Russian nuclear deal) besides the ones that have been previously publicized and he failed to disclose any of his numerous foreign contacts, trips and meetings on his security clearance forms where he was supposed to list all such contacts in the past 7 years. Failure to report has penalty of 5 years in prison. There was a major article (Newsweek, maybe NY Times too, I can't recall) this weekend detailing all of Flynn's extensive business dealings with foreigners, including Iranians and Saudi's.
He is in big trouble and Mueller's team are developing considerable leverage to pressure him to flip.
Erin Burnett show broke the story, all of her guests said this makes Trump's desire to shut down Flynn investigation even more troubling and suspicious.

(16,420 posts)While serving as a top campaign adviser to Donald Trump, Flynn worked with firms linked to NSO Group which develops spyware and sells it to governments.
By Paul Blumenthal , Jessica Schulberg
WASHINGTON ― While serving as a top campaign aide to Donald Trump, former national security adviser Michael Flynn made tens of thousands of dollars on the side advising a company that sold surveillance technology that repressive governments used to monitor activists and journalists.
Flynn, who resigned in February after mischaracterizing his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., has already come under scrutiny for taking money from foreign outfits. Federal investigators began probing Flynns lobbying efforts on behalf of a Dutch company led by a businessman with ties to the Turkish government earlier this year. Flynns moonlighting wasnt typical: Most people at the top level of major presidential campaigns do not simultaneously lobby for any entity, especially not foreign governments. Its also unusual for former U.S. intelligence officials to work with foreign cybersecurity outfits.

Prominent human rights activists and political dissidents have reported being targeted by NSOs technology. On August 10, 2016, Ahmed Mansoor, an internationally recognized Emirati human rights activist, received a text message prompting him to click a link to read new secrets about detainees abused in UAE prisons. He got a similar text the next day. But Mansoor, who had already been repeatedly targeted by hackers, knew better than to click the links. Instead, he forwarded the messages to Citizen Lab.
Citizen Lab soon determined that NSO Groups malware exploited an undisclosed mobile phone vulnerability, known as a zero-day exploit, that enabled its customers ― that is, foreign governments ― to surveil a targets phone after the target clicked the link included in the phishing text message. If Mansoor had clicked that link, his phone would have become a digital spy in his pocket, capable of employing his phone camera and microphone to snoop on activity in the vicinity of the device, recording his WhatsApp and Viber calls, logging messages sent in mobile chat apps, and tracking his movements, Citizen Lab wrote in a report.

(11,986 posts)...makes a lot of sense if Flynn has damaging information on Trump. To avoid just this scenario.
All the pieces fall into place, unless you think Trump was going out on a limb for Flynn merely out of the goodness of his heart.
If there's a "there" there, this may be the key.
