I'm gratified to see many of my original posts appear, reposted, on conservative websites, especially one cavernous one, where they can be read by people who might not normally agree with me. Even if they are often the subject of ridicule at those sites, the messages are still read, nevertheless. I love it when my writings are shared. It tells me that my message is being read. I consider it a form of secular evangelism, in a way.
And I'm not the only one. Other OPs from DU are shared and reposted on such conservative websites. It's something we should celebrate, I think. Keep posting and they'll keep sharing it!

Maybe, one day, they will learn what it means to be gracious and wise. May they mirror every one of your posts!

(146,286 posts)So far, they repost about half of them, it seems. They must like me, I guess, or something.

(16,646 posts)It goes back years. Conservative site summarizing comments made here and posting them elsewhere. I'm a little torqued that they are often misleading in their editing. Sometimes the original context isn't even presented. But it sorta suggests to me that they are so devoid of content on their own that they need to go find it elsewhere.

(146,286 posts)I guess they do need some content to discuss. Well, I'm happy to supply it, even if they try to make me the butt of their jokes or something.

(53,061 posts)1) The inevitable debt explosion that is about to take place with the changes in the ACA and the big con on infrastructure and huge tax reduction?
2) Less transparency in every aspect of the federal government?
3) People working in the federal government openly profiting from policy.
4) Complete abrogation of the emoluments clause of the constitution
5) Nepotism and Goldmansachism
6) A complete renunciation of science
Could go on. They promoted themselves as honest conservatives. If they were they would be in open revolt. This administration has nothing to do with Conservatism.

(146,286 posts)fun of DUers and their posts.
It's not really a serious discussion forum. It's more a circle of boys doing nasty things at the same time.

but I don't know how the VAST majority of Republicans can support the insanely obvious catastrophic issues you point out (and the many others). #1 is a time bomb. They like to attack Obama for deficits, but most of them seem clueless that that was because of the historic recession and that the deficits decreased each year. Trump's slashing of taxes and 10% increases in military spending are going to blow up the debt far more. I think some of them want this, to cripple our ability to spend money on any government programs in the future. It's idiotic.
But, Hillary had emails.

(765 posts)That is outstanding to hear. My big concern is, who helps the republicans, with the big words? Sorry couldn't resist.

(73,630 posts)With all of that goat-fucking they do in that cavey-place.
But your stuff is always particularly noticeable, so I imagine that even the bleating of their live goat sexual objects can't always keep them away.

(146,286 posts)They have several favorite posters over here, and always post whatever they post on DU over there. Then, of course, they mock the poster and the post. However, lots more people read the posts than comment on them, just like happens here. There's an irony there that gets missed, I think.

(6,390 posts)I've yet to receive such an honor, but then, I don't post much.
But I have tarried over to some conservative sites now and then. And yes, lot of "commentary" but not much on substance.
However, blanket assertions, insults, etc. is a form of flattery. For example, if someone from the Westboro Baptist church called me a heathen, then I know without a a shadow of a doubt, I'm a good Christian.

(32,633 posts)I often get the feeling that we're preaching to the choir here on DU. That's not a bad thing, but the people who need to hear our message (you know who I mean) are not even made to feel welcome here. Or they have no interest in coming to DU on a regular basis.
That brings up another point. We should be careful to keep our language clean whenever possible, especially if visitors are picking up whole sections of a post and reposting without editing.
Mineral Man I'm not referring to you because your writing is always clearly written and gentlemanly (free of bad language). But I've seen other posts including one or two of my own where I'd be embarrassed I 'd known it would be reposted somewhere else. Yes the 4 letter words are sometimes hilarious, but they can also be misinterpreted and give people the wrong impression of why we're here.

(38,310 posts)Hell, the Republicans could take away their health care and piss in their fruit loops and they'd still blame Obama or Clinton.
I've got a redneck nephew, guns, pickup truck, the works, who hates Trump with a burning passion. He seems to have changed a few minds among his peers, but I can't be sure it has anything to do with reason. They may simply be afraid of him. Fear is a powerful motivating force. That's why Fox News works, that's why Rush Limbaugh has an audience, always fanning the flames of fear, appealing to the lizard brain in all of us that's unable to distinguish television images and radio voices from reality.
Sometimes we humans follow after our gorilla-like ancestors, where there is a dominant male in the tribe keeping the peace, and sometimes we're more like the bonobos, keeping the peace with penis fencing and other overtly sexual behaviors.
Sadly since Eve tasted the apple, since Pandora opened the box, we humans have only enjoyed tantalizing glimpses of reality.
Mostly we react instinctively and rationalize our actions later.

(11,097 posts)I understand that something posted on DU will not convince many conservatives but it may convince some. There is no silver bullet. Conservatives have to be convinced one at a time. That's the hopeful bit.
Now the dangerous bit. If postings from DU are not well reasoned, calm and something you would want your grandmother to read, it convinces conservatives that liberals are unreasoned, irrational and profane - and should be ignored.
We would all do well to make sure our posts are fact based and rationale. As Colbert said, "Reality has a well known liberal bias." It only makes sense to argue reality.
