As much as we protest and as unpopular as GOP policies are we cannot truly stop them from delivering shit sandwich after shit sandwich. They will go after Social Security and Medicare to end them completely. They will not listen and do not listen now. If anything they double down on their determination from the way things look.
This secret health care bill is just the beginning of GOP secret government. They count on apathy and racism to allow them to move forward. Of course we must continue to fight. New tactics will likely be necessary.
I do not get how they are getting so far with almost no public resistance. Call all you want, but there is no one there to answer.

(152 posts)at least for the middle class. They will be so entrenched America will become a vast wastland with little or no spending on infrastructure, education.
There'll be luxurious enclaves for the super rich; Chinese, Russian oligarchs, So. American drug kingpins, American billionaires....and a vast supply of unending cheap labor.

We all need to continue with the protests, continue with the phone calls, and NOT GIVE UP. That's what they want and we can't give it to them!
And right now we need to be fighting on healthcare even harder than we did with the house bill:

"Even people who don't pay attention to politics and cable news hear about protests that are big & loud enough. Sooner or later they'll check to see what all the fuss is all about.

(6,974 posts)IF we were assured of having fair elections, then 2018/2020 would mean something. But, we do NOT have a fair voting system, this current installed occupant of the White House has GOP-led Dem voter-suppression that will be off the chain in 2018/2020, with "assistance" from the ruskies who will have their interjection into our elections down to a fine science by this time next year--hell, maybe even THIS year. beauguard as AG is delighted that Dems/minorities won't be able to xercise their votes.
The pig installed into the White House is in love with putin and beholden TO the him/ruskie oligarchs, mobsters, so of course they'll have input into our elections in 2018 and 2020. The ruskies have more say so into our democracy than Dems or citizens who don't agree with tRumputin, the GOP or with ruskie meddling into our elections.
We as a country are in HORRIBLE places in SO many ways.

(22,976 posts)Republicans have ALREADY destroyed everything in sight. #45 is a symptom, not the disease. Thus, the resistance in only beginning.

(5,306 posts)One party rule and mass poverty for those without political connections. This will only turn around at the voting booths, and sad to say our side doesn't vote when it counts, and the other side controls the airways and the finances. Buckle Up. It's going to be a long strange trip.
