The UK Just Cancelled Donald Trumps State Visit

The UK Just Cancelled Donald Trump’s State Visit

By Brett Bose
Current Events | Published on June 21, 2017

The planned visit to the United Kingdom by President Donald Trump has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. The news came via the Queen’s Speech, an event held when a new government enters Parliament.

The Queen’s address, which marks the opening of the new parliament, is usually dictated by the incoming administration and often includes details such as planned state visits. However, this year’s speech only made reference to an upcoming visit by members of the Spanish royal family.

This news comes after reports emerged that Trump was re-thinking his decision to visit the UK, supposedly because he didn’t want to face the huge protests against him that would have erupted in major towns and cities.

A spokesman for the British Government said that the invitation was still on the table, but no timeframe had been agreed.

The British Government has received calls from many public figures and petitions to cancel Trump’s visit. The President’s casual racist, sexist and Islamophobic comments went down very badly across the pond.

The UK has been in turmoil for the last few weeks. A shock election result ruined the Conservative Party’s majority and created a political crisis. Then two terrorist attacks and a deadly fire in a tower block that has claimed the lives of more than 79 people have rocked the nation.

They have more important things to be worrying about than making sure Trump has a good vacation.

I understand England wants to suck up to the US since they managed to fuck up with Europe but they just had an election where they were repuked. Bringing over someone they all hate isn't helping.

Even during World War II American soldiers presence was resented in that there are problems when a large influx of foreign troops arrives on your doorstep. Avoiding chaos is understood imagine if that situation were reversed. Great Britain may be our last ally to even consider having that boorish narcisstic egomaniac in their midst. I would hope far less than 36% of Brits approve of this loutish pompous ass and his pretentious quasi-royal family. When it comes to Trump manners not required.

The Brits don't need our albatross hanging around their necks as well. As for Trump, unless he's going to be lionized and bowed to for his entire trip, he won't do it. He only performs (and it IS a "performance"!) before hand picked, pro-ignorance dimwits incapable of seeing through the thin veneer of Trump's "Presidential" appearance. He - like George W. Bush when he was "President" - is terrified of facing the majority of Americans who think he's an insulting, incapable, ego-maniacal toad. The Queen told him the golden carriage was going to be in the shop that week as well. If Trump can't sit on gold, he won't sit at all.
