Jon Ossoff appreciation thread.

Last edited Wed Jun 21, 2017, 11:30 AM - Edit history (1)

As a GA voter I personally want to thank Jon for doing what no other Democrat running for that seat
has done in 40 years...made it competitive and winnable in the future.

Here's what he accomplished.

GOP margins in GA-6 House races:

1992 +16
94 +28
96 +16
98 +42
99 ?
00 +50
02 +60
04 Unopposed
06 +45
08 +37
10 Unopposed
12 +30
14 +32
16 +24
17 +4

That we lost the runoff by 5% is amazing when you consider just how red that district is

she is finishing up medical school. Apparently, that meets residency requirements.

He is only 30 years old, and the GOPers attacked that showing ads of him goofing around in college like it was a terrible thing. They tied him to Pelosi, again like it was a terrible thing. They made him appear soft on terrorism, even though his knowledge in the debates was as good as anyone I have ever seen, other than maybe President Obama. They ran ads implying his type is responsible for the shooting in Washington, DC.

Georgia is a very religious state. Living together is frowned upon, especially if you are running for office.

But please...Ossoff said he would not increase taxes on the very wealthy or expand Medicare or SS benefits. Dems do not need to move to the right. People are tired of trump and republican agendas like tax give aways to the 1% and this ridiculous Health care bill. People agree with us on the issues and our values far surpass what repubs offer. We do not need to run to the right or be right wing 'centrists'. We need to hold our FDR and LBJ agendas as merit badges for our progressive Democratic platform as a party by, for and of the people. Cross Check is against the law as voters are innocent until proven guilty and cannot be thrown off the voting rolls because they "might" vote twice (accused because they have the same last name as someone living in another state).
If there is no evidence of fraud then SoS cannot assume guilt without evidence. The people need a good attorney.
Good on John but still he would not identify with Pelosi or be called a liberal...He was running in a red state but I propose he would have done as well or maybe even better if he said hell yes I'm a liberal and believe in raising taxes on the very wealthy so they pay their fair share and am proud of the outstanding job Pelosi did as speaker of the House. Thanks to all John's volunteers and campaign donors. Handels millions didn't show up as campaign donations as they went to PACs who bought all the attack ads etc.
