Let me introduce you to my friend Lisa, whom the GOP would loathe

Lisa is a friend of mine in her mid-thirties who became pregnant almost 7 years ago, four years before I met her. She is fiercely liberal, self-sufficient, independent and Yale-educated (I threw in these last three terms to repudiate the Repig notions that liberal women are all dumb lazy takers).

As I got to know her, she confided a story to me. She had been pregnant with quadruplets. As in four. And she had some difficulties with her pregnancy which I won't get into, but suffice to say her PCP told her point blank somewhere in the third or fourth month:

"It's impossible for you to carry all four fetuses to term. All of them will die and you may die as well. Lisa, you HAVE to abort two of them. It's the only way to save the other two and yourself as well."

Lisa thought about it, got a second opinion, and concluded it had to be done. Two abortions took place and she lived to give birth to two beautiful twin daughters.

I see her daughters quite often since Lisa is a great friend of mine. And while I think it's unfortunate how fate worked out and four kids weren't born, I'm extremely grateful for the fact Lisa had the two girls - and survived as well. In fact, I can honestly state she is one of my best friends and my life has been made better by knowing her... and her daughters.

When I think about the cruel, heartless America the Repigs have in store for people like Lisa - where abortion is absolutely illegal across the board which a blind chimpanzee could see is their end goal - it's easy to see that in a similar scenario all four fetuses as well as the mother would perish.

Too bad. They don't care. That's "God's will." In their view, the heart-breaking decision Lisa had to make would be in their hands; a solid, resounding: "NO." "You will NOT. Life is sacred. You'd better just pray that all four of them make it along with yourself, and if you don't it's obviously your fault."

The filthy GOP way would have guaranteed Lisa's death along with all her offspring and I'd never have known her. Her daughters would never have seen the light of day.

Oh, because the GOP is so "pro-life."

Except when they're advocating frying people, gunning down suspicious black males, bombing the fuck out of alleged enemies, and - if they had their way - mowing down "liberals" with machine guns. Which they WOULD do if given license to; you know it and so do I.

I'm a 45 year old married male with three kids who has had a vasectomy. I'll never be in a position again where my wife and I have to decide on something like that.

But we have a daughter.

And goddamn you fucking hateful Republicans, you will NEVER decide for my daughter what she can do with her body, up to and including saving her own life through her choices. NEVER.

1. Their hateful anti-choice agenda is ultimately about punishing women.

They could give a damn about "the sanctity of life". I hate these people with the fire of a thousand suns!

which means that women are second class citizens not deserving of equal rights or
authority for self-determination.

Many women go along with the male supremacy point of view (witness the numbers of women who voted for Trump)
and are simply self-destructive.

Much has been written lately about how they have an "authoritarian" worldview including male superiority.
There is no more private and personal decision than whether, when and how many children a woman will bear. How dare they think it's their right to force a woman to endure life-and-health threatening pregnancy and childbirth against her will.

... except in this case Lisa had sex with her husband with whom she was married to years before these quadruplets were ever conceived.

Oh, but of course, the shit-encrusted GOP would STILL find some way to blame her for this. Because assholes.

forgive them on this issue. Especially since republican women, highly religious women also have abortions. Then their sanctimonious asses get right back in that protest line condemning other women for using the same choice.

Google the only moral abortion is my abortion.

Male republicans pushing their mistress to get an abortion, then push anti abortion bills.

To take it further, when they get their anti abortion agenda through they will start in earnest on Birth Control. They already try with the hobby lobby and trying to get pills categorized as abortifacients.

fuck them to hell.

They are passing (last I heard) a bill that grants employers the right to fire a woman if she has EVER had an abortion OR uses contraception.

should stay the hell out of it. The GOP seems to think having an abortion is a spur of the moment, off the top of the head decision and it's the exact opposite. It makes me furious they bang their personal liberty drum while making every effort to take the liberty to make decisions away from women.

... they're not against abortion so much as controlling what women do. They are going after birth control and are starting with that provided by employeers so shitheads can deny it due to religious bullshit.

It won't end there. It won't. It doesn't stop with these people until all contraceptive devices are banned. It doesn't. They envision a world in which "God" has ultimate control over reproductive decisions and condoms, the pill, IUDs, the morning-after-pill, etc. are all outlawed.

Hell, it wouldn't surprise me to see them pass a law stating that males like me who have had a vasectomy must report to a urologist to have the procedure reversed. It wouldn't. That is how batshit fucking insane these fucking people are.

Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), the Supreme Court ruled that a state's ban on the use of contraceptives violated the right to marital privacy. The case concerned a Connecticut law that criminalized the encouragement or use of birth control.

This laid the groundwork for Roe v Wade

Caught during a salpingectomy. The only man who should be making life and death decisions for me when I'm under is my husband.

I'm glad your friend has two little people who love her - she had an awful decision to make.

These men put words in other peoples lives. Their marriages even.

republican woman, she would have had her abortions at her own cost. If necessary, she would have gone to a private clinic overseas and kept the whole thing quiet. Anyone else can die, if the republicans get their way.

Fuck all of them and the horse they rode in on. And Lisa, you sound like a wonderful woman and mother to me.

Pro-life shit is this:

If life is so sacred, why do we ALL DIE?

Seriously, no one can answer that question without saying b.s. that ends up making no sense whatsoever.

17. Precisely! Per fundies, we all croak due to "original sin" b.s.

So, if that crazy doctrine is true (just for argument's sake), then there can be no such thing as "innocent life" (another fundie fave).

According to church doctrine, *everyone's* tainted by original sin, which was first attained by eating from the tree of knowledge, because if we'd just stayed dumb, clueless clucks, Gawd would've granted us immortality (????). But no, one apple down the hatch, and it's suffering, pain, hardship and death, because Gawd loves us so much (????).

Was gonna close with, "You can't make this stuff up," but that's exactly what this is-- made-up stuff.

Talked to new friends about social issues and how conservative the place was. Commented that the city was big enough and poor enough to have a Plannned Parenthood Clinic, yet there wasn't one, so "I guess there are no abortions performed here?" I asked. "Oh, there are plenty," my new friend said. They are just performed in certain doctors' offices and are kept very quiet to avoid harassment."

during pregnancy, and after birth? They're a burden then, disgraces who should have known better and kept their legs "closed".....shame on them for letting that happen.....when it should be the GOP that should be shamed.....

But...we'll fund Viagra for their lily white arses!

Hypocrites!
