If Democrats want to gain traction, we can't stare at stagnation but refuse to change. We can't concentrate on rehashing the 2016 election and ignore the reasons we lost about 1,000 state and federal seats over the last near-decade. We'll do more good as unified Democrats than as individuals who identify only or mostly with their specific group.
Some Democrats want to toss the handlers and consultants aside and get back to basics, some want to hire focus groups and concentrate on "rebranding" and fundraising. Some Democrats demand change, others see no need for it. Some demand automatic respect for our leaders, others say they must earn it. Regardless of personal positions, our party's goal should be unity. We'll have to set aside resentments, anger, intolerance and find common ground. The stakes are so high right now we can not afford another month of bickering.
We're like a once-thriving family restaurant that is going downhill. Some want "new blood" to replace the old cooks. Some want to refinance and change all the equipment. Some want to concentrate on portion control. Some want to ditch the corn dogs and get some sushi. Although one or two want to sell the damn place, most want it to succeed.
Let's put our heads together, try a little harder at listening to one another, open our minds to new ideas, and go after Trump and his enablers with everything we've got. ~PEACE~

(1,306 posts)Has GOT to be to kill the right-wing propaganda machine.
Until then, absolutely NO message will get through the wall-o-noise and all the public will hear is "stupid libtard."
We've put up with 20 years of that, and this is where we are because of it. They've spent all 20 years de-humanizing and demonizing everyone and everything even the least bit "liberal" and show no signs of slowing down. Expect it to get worse unless something is done.

(39,343 posts)No one seems to have a response to hacking of voter rolls and targeted gaslighting, so I say we do it too and even do it better.
Hell, why not even threaten to hack the vote count, if it will get both parties involved in securing the vote.
We need a candidate and leaders who fully utilize technology, radio, tv, social media, and whatever new thing comes out this year.
We've got to sell a product that is so good (let's use hyperbole) that the 50% who do not, will freaking vote and vote for us.
We also need YOUTH. Youth understands and drives the culture.
