From Reagan to Trump: do you feel like Rip Van Winkle?

Reagan said that we need to eliminate protections for American industry to force our industries to remain competitive.

Now, thirty years later, we have the reaction to that GOP plan! The old Rip Van Winkle woke up to a renewed America as he saw the "spirit of 76" march on. The new Rip Van Winkle wakes up to an aggrieved WHAM (White Heterosexual American Male) class of losers who never left the 80s but would really like to go back to the 50s. The new Rip Van Winkle feels almost at home except the people he knew have become losers.

Although many didn't like Reagan's policy at all, we moved on. Jobs were lost, careers ended. Eventually even the Democratic leaders followed the Wall Street love affair with America's open door policy. Happily, Americans are quite competitive and lead the way in many industries. It really is sad and disgusting to see the Trump losers, so many years after the rest of us who SUFFERED got over it. Now we suffer again so that these losers can FEEL like winners. Hey, it was your GOP plan! Now we suffer again as our nation begins a big decline while the Billionaires march on.
