"He's not a politician" excuse.

What does that mean?

He can say rude and crude remarks because a "politician" would be more thoughtful and considerate and would not resort to such bilious comments?

He is making "politicians" look good.

I wonder if they realize what they are saying when they say, "He's not a politician"?

3. So, as the plane goes down

the steward comes over the loudspeaker to announce that the man behind the controls, locked away in the cabin, was never really a pilot?

Sure, it makes total sense that you'd elect someone because he cannot perform his duty.

5. Lame attempt to establish defense plea of negligence rather than what it really is

Because *45's actions are both impeachable and criminal...
Premeditated efforts intended to obstruct justice

First, through multiple attempts to hinder and alter the investigational actions of a federal agency by directly attempting to influence the actions of the agency director ....

Followed by terminating the agency director's employment and
then publicly stating, on the record, that the basis for termination was *45's belief that the investigation was unfounded (despite the written conclusions of multiple federal agencies).

Then, upon learning that the former agency director had kept a written log of the communications in question and that the agency director would be testifying, *45 used a public social media forum to issue a thinly veiled threat in an attempt to Intimidate the former agency director in his new role as a witness.

9. Consider the audience for that remark: Trump voters.

"He's not a politician" is not an excuse coming from Newt Gingrich, it's a reminder. And he's the one saying it because he is, after all, a very good politician.

Trump voters think that governing is easy and intuitive and should be dictated by common sense. They have absolutely no respect for the near-impossible task governing the U.S. truly is. They all think they could do a better job, or someone like them. You know, like a NYC-born and raised, thrice-married billionaire...just like them! A normal guy who tells it like it is.
