Do poor white Trump supporters deserve any sympathy at this point?

I was somewhat willing to accept that a poor white Trump voter could get suckered in by his con. Flim-flam men have always been around, and they can be effective in tricking desperate people in particular.

But at this point, we KNOW that Trump is promoting bills that would hurt the poor and working class, of all races. Including Trump's own base. In fact that only reason the bills haven't become law is that they are not mean ENOUGH for some Republicans.

In spite of this, Republican house candidates are still getting elected. Trump still has his same supporters. Apparently because he hates some of the same people they hate.

I'm really about ready to give up on these people and to be physically unable of feeling sorry for any misfortune that might befall them.

Unfortunately, they get a free ride on the backs of Democrats - some who lose their seats to Republicans because they do the right thing for the American people - and still vote R, hoping that R-policies will only affect PoC, 'sinful' women, LGBT people, etc. They're too dumb to realize that will never happen; that all policies shoved through that crash our economy and take jobs, will affect ALL people in the United States...and beyond our borders.

If only they weren't so infested with hatred and fear, the R-Party would lose power within one election cycle.

These people believe that Liberals have secretly rigged up a giant welfare system which is eating up most of THEIR tax money and makes up most of the federal budget, a scheme which shovels SNAP, AFDC, and basic assistance money into the pockets of Black, Latino, and Muslim druggie loafers who refuse to work. Fox News and cohorts have not allowed these people to learn about the dramatic changes to the welfare system enacted during Bill Clinton's presidency, and even back then they vastly overestimated the size of welfare checks (I was there; I remember). Thus we hear these people suggesting that a five-year lifetime limit be placed on welfare, or that a work requirement should be placed on able-bodied SNAP recipients, or that unemployment compensation recipients be required to look for jobs, or that immigrants should not be automatically placed on welfare. Etc.

There is a lot of noise out there.

I know several of them. Some are the nicest people you would ever want to meet until you talk politics.

Every single one of them watches fox news daily and have for at least a decade. Some have been voting Republican since Nixon at least. It was a much different party then and fox noise is well...Propaganda at best. Facebook is also full of complete BS.

Basically what I am saying is that these people have been and are being duped. Now you could certainly argue they are letting it happen but when i actually talk to most of these folks about any number of subjects trying to just stick to the issue. More often than not they are in total agreement or at least mostly agree on what the solutions should be and typically closely mirror my own.

Thing is they think republicans are fighting for these things. Or think that democrats are working to destroy these things.

The ACA is a perfect example. Call it Obamacare and they hate it but if it is the ACA they don't want to lose it. They have direct experience with the ACA. They have been spoon fed what to believe about Obamacare.

Forget they are obviously the same thing when you try to tell them that they often don't believe it.

So do I have sympathy for them? Yea in the same way I have sympathy for anyone being conned.

Some of them of course. Some are just complete knuckle draggers that couldn't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves never realizing their happiness is tied to everyone else. Those folks can kiss my ass.
