I think being able to spell the names of the states of one's country is important.

But I know that is certainly NOT the wave of the future. People are proud of ignorance now.

That's kind of sad.

They collectively bring the whole of human society down simply with their presence. I elect the deplorables to be our first colonists into space. Just blast them all out there beyond our solar system all by their lily white selves. Hopefully, they won't encounter any life forms more intelligent than they are (that shouldn't be too difficult) to burden with their presence. I'd genuinely be embarrassed if some other sentient beings were to come across this pea-brained rabble and mistakenly think all earthlings were as ignorant as they are.
