Ari Melber is filling in for Lawrence. He was visibly choked up and on the verge of tears.
Hope President Trump enjoys his golf weekend.

Ryan's a true libertarian extremist whose policies would "improve" America by allowing our "weak," "unworthy" citizens who can't pay for modern medicine or for their elder years after bankrupting themselves to just die. Not a racial or ethnic cleansing, but an "unworthy" cleansing.
Trump's a dysfunctional fraction of a man who's almost certainly literally incapable of caring about others.
Today's Republican Party leadership and big-money backers are riddled with sociopaths.

He has been scared since the election that he'll have to go into a nursing home and lose the care he needs. It was very, very sad and infuriating.

Joan Walsh asked what kind of monster Paul Ryan would have to be for bragging about his dream of gutting Medicaid going back to keggers in his college years.
I thought the people in wheelchairs outside of McConnell's office yesterday was devastating, but this multiplied that by ten.
When Ryan was on the White House lawn, chugging Bud Lights and high-fiving his co-conspirators, THIS is what he was celebrating.

(16,817 posts)The fact that there is not more outrage over this "Wealthcare" bill which fundamentally dismantles Medicaid speaks volumes to where we are as a nation.
You take a culture that has become nearly entirely "me" focused, toss in a dash of right wing talking points that seem to dominate the television and radio airwaves, and mix in a touch of evangelical bastardization of the gospels and this is what you get, I suppose. There is a large portion of our country that has lost any and all empathy...and I'm not sure how we bring that back!

(21,806 posts)I would say that Rethugs should be put in straight jackets, and forced to watch that segment, but I don't think it would make any difference to them. Rump, McConnell, and Ryan are sociopaths. No empathy, no soul. They see people like Mike as completely expendable. If they see them at all.

They are a moral, rotten, evil and racist assholes who don't CARE whether people live or die--even what's left of the white middle-class. Just as long as the monies from Medicaid cuts go to them and their fellow 1%'ers who want those delicious tax cuts

(115,280 posts)while he was president. It was and is a private charity. However, they are very unhappy with McConnell's heinous bill: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/statement-of-stacey-d-stewart-president-march-of-dimes-on-release-of-the-better-care-reconciliation-act-300478664.html
"The bill released today fails repeatedly to prioritize and promote the needs of pregnant women, babies, and their families. No investment is made in promoting maternal and child health, or in ensuring that moms and infants can get the quality care they need for healthy pregnancies and a strong start in life.
"Under the BCRA, families can expect to pay higher premiums for insurance plans that fail to cover the services they need. Medicaid coverage for up to 6.5 million women of childbearing age will be rescinded, making it harder for them to get healthy before they get pregnant. States will be able to permit insurers not to cover maternity and newborn care, meaning women and their partners will have to purchase expensive additional coverage for pregnancy or pay all the costs out of pocket for their prenatal and maternity care. Hundreds of billions of dollars will be slashed from Medicaid for people including pregnant women and children, requiring states to cut eligibility, services, or payments to strapped health care providers.
"This bill penalizes pregnant women, children and families at every turn. The March of Dimes calls upon all U.S. Senators to vote against this ill-conceived package, and to go back to the drawing board to produce legislation that will support the needs of moms, babies and families."
Way to show your gratitude, Mitch.
