Why Aren't All The Dem Senators Openly Meeting With Their Constituents In Their States....

this weekend to discuss this Repug health bill?

I see where Chris Van Hollen is meeting with his people and lo and behold - he's got TV coverage of the event. Later we'll probably see actual footage of people at his meeting - condemning the Repug health bill. Getting that footage out to the masses is important as it will continue to sway opinion against the Repugs and this bill and rile up the masses to call their Repug Senators to kill this bill.

Just think if all the Dem Senators - did the same around the country. Look at the press that can be generated by the Dems to counteract the Repugs attempt at this big money giveaway to the rich.

They should all be out this weekend and talking and listening to their constituents. I know that some may think they are powerless because they are the minority Party. However, getting out their in front of their constituents and giving their constituents a forum to express their non-support for the Repugs bill - is a way that they can use the power of their positions and a bully pulpit to get TV coverage - local or national.

This to me is a no brainer - and why aren't the Dem Senators out their doing that?

And for that matter Dem Congress critters in their districts should be employing the same strategy.

By that I mean they have to study up and examine the bill. There's a lot of info to go over and make decisions on.

If I were a Senator I wouldn't want to start giving opinions on something that I didn't have time to read yet.
Let's give them time to go over this thing and figure out the best approach before we jump on them.

to do the full read, find the issues and provide the Senator with talking points.

Time is not something we have a lot of. The Repugs want this to come to a vote middle of next week before the 4th of July recess. This was the weekend to get out and talk with their constituents. They are missing a golden opportunity here.

The news channels would pick up coverage of these meetings as they are always looking for juicy stories and this would be one.

I'm very disappointed with the Dems on this.

with his constituents is Chris Van Hollen. MSNBC has had two segments now touting this and will probably be showing clips from the actual meeting later.

If the other Dems are out their talking with their constituents - they aren't doing it in a very visible way - which they could take advantage of.

They should be contacting local news channels and cable news channels - broadcasting the fact that they are having very open townhall type meetings with their constituency to hear from the People so that they can take that message back to the floor of the Senate next week before the vote.

I'm sorry - but they are missing a golden opportunity if they don't use this weekend to the benefit of the American People and their constituents.

If you know of other Senators that are doing what Van Hollen is doing - please post that info here.
