fighting this healthcare fight. We may very well be fighting a different healthcare fight but no one of "Replace and Repeal."
Just remember those candid videos of people extolling the virtues of the ACA until they were told it was actually the system they called "Obamacare."

(62,406 posts)whatever health care bill put forth with the name of whatever democrat they could. For example Hillarycare from the nineties.
There was nothing Obama, Jesus Christ or Zeus could have done to stop the right from whatever derogatory name they would hang on it and then repeating it a million times in their echo chamber.
The bill does have another name and that is the ACA.
If we owned enough media the current Republican bill would probably be labeled something like the Republican Death bill.

(11,579 posts)Further, their opposition to the single-payer provision and other things altered what the ACA set out to be. We wound up with the ACA as we knew it--a disappointment to many, yet way better than nothing. It was hoped to serve as a platform to build on as people became accustomed to it, as they benefited from its provisions and protections, and as they became more accepting of the idea of making it more affordable and better moving forward.
Instead it was negatively framed and ridiculed. Some Republican governors refused to set up exchanges in their states. Republicans in Congress strangled funding and every successful sabotage was heralded as "oh look--it is failing as we warned!"
