how perceptions of Republicans have shifted over time and how yesterday's conservative Republicans are not "conservative enough" for today's wingnuts. She was considered a pretty hardcore right-winger from Texas when she was a US Senator.

Tillerson having to clean up Trump's ignorance and the diplomatic messes Trump and Kushner make. Starting to sound like Tillerson is sane. Needs to resign and tell the truth.

She is at least somewhat qualified for the position and her appointment might soothe the nerves of our NATO allies.

I've heard her speak at the Texas Public Employees Association convention about 20 years ago. While I don't agree with most of her politics she isn't completely batshit crazy.

She also gave the dedication speech for the tree that was planted at my alma mater, Southwestern University, to recognize Senator John Tower after he died in the airplane crash. The joke at the Kappa Sigma house (Tower's fraternity) was what kind of tree did they plant to honor Tower? A. Scotch pine (because of his drinking problem). The other senator at the time, Phil Gramm, refused to come to Southwestern after the students grilled him when he campaigned for the seat vacated by Tower--conservative Aggies don't go over well at a liberal arts university.

I wonder what Rick Perry thinks of her appointment since she ran against him for governor.

Def would have made a better Governor than Perry.

Long way to say it, but I share yr ambivalence.

Considering that the position also involves some diplomacy it probably is the best that can be expected with a Trump appointment.
