Senior campaign aide: Trump confused about difference between Medicare and Medicaid

Senior campaign aide: Trump confused about difference between Medicare and Medicaid
In News by Tosten Burks / June 28, 2017

In his attempts to rally support for the crumbling Senate plan to replace Obamacare, Donald Trump has made it clear he doesn’t quite grasp what everyone’s talking about. Senators on both sides of the aisle have shared their impression that the president lacks basic knowledge of the Republican legislation and the policies it hopes to replace. Asked directly about proposed cuts to Medicaid, Trump’s analysis amounted to, “It’s gonna be great.” According to The Daily Beast, #45’s struggle to understand the American healthcare system dates back to the campaign.

“There would be times when he would describe what was clearly Medicare…but say Medicaid,” one former senior Trump campaign aide said. “When we pointed that out, he would say, ‘That’s what I said, Medicare and Medicaid.'”

The aide recalled several instances when Trump conflated the two programs or confused their distinct functions. Rather than ensure the candidate was properly informed, campaign staff would just move on, the aide said, because nobody wanted to make Trump’s dumb ass look “dumb.”

“It wasn’t really a policy oriented campaign—policy wasn’t on our radar,” a second former campaign aide said. “The sense was, say what wins and figure out the details later.”

In a shocking turn of events, Trump’s disinterest in understanding healthcare policy didn’t change after he entered office, according to White House officials. Asked whether #45’s briefings on the topic were as dirt-simple compared to those given to previous presidents as Trump’s national security briefs, one official did not demur.

he has NO clue about issues - so he continues to babble the usual 10-second "blabatudes" that Trump nation believe to be "signs-of-intelligence" and will follow him into the pits of hell - dragging the rest of us with them.

You have to be qualified to be a teacher, dentist, auto mechanic, nurse, stonemason, surgeon, etc. FFS an automated car wash probably has more qualifications than Trump

Apparently anyone with a barely measurable IQ can apply to be POTUS

Half the country is as willfully ignorant as the president they elected.

information processing disorder. Of course, he's an asshole nonetheless but his reactions to complicated issues is something beyond political. He's made up with this deficit all his life by snark and attack-dog tactics which made him a natural fit for the RW.

He has absolutely no idea how government works and defers to the likes of Steve Bannon and that Miller creep on policy. He's mainly concerned with his personal image and wants to look "in charge" and "on top" without doing the work required to understand policy.

His verbal skills are pathetic and I thought that alone would scare enough voters away so Hills would win, but here we are.
