Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsKpete deleted her post about "Complicit" National Enquirer pic, but...
For the record, the pic she posted (in a tweet by someone else) IS on the National Enquirer website.
No, it is not on the front page.
Nowhere in Kpete's OP, or in the linked tweet in that OP, did or does it say "on the front page."
It says/said "National Enquirer website" -- and the pic in question is there, today.
It is one of seven pics posted on June 2nd as a "Photo Gallery" -- with the headline:
"Affair Game!
Joe & Mika: TV Couples Sleazy Cheating Scandal
'Morning' lovebirds vow to make it legal as The ENQUIRER asks questions!"
All of it is still there.
Here's the link: http://www.nationalenquirer.com/photos/joe-scarborough-mika-brzezinski-affair/
The author of the OP was hounded into deleting it, unfairly in my opinion. The thread was deleted while I was typing this response, which is the reason for this OP on my part.

(36,103 posts)You're right by the way. All those photos are there
This is confusing though. The story was in early June and, frankly, not very damaging to TV personalities. Was Trump threatening to give the magazine some other info for an article? Or is he just lying so much that at this point he's confusing even himself

(146,281 posts)It was just another stupid NE celebrity gossip story. That's why. Had it been published "right now" as the tweet claimed, it would have been important, given the tweet by Trump. It wasn't published now, though. It was published almost a month ago and went unnoticed.
It was the "right now" in the post title and the tweet that was misleading. Not just a simple mistake. It was misleading. The tweet was also not checked before posting a link to it, apparently.
Nobody cared about the NE story when it first appeared. Had it appeared in that rag today, though, it would have been important. But, it wasn't on the NE home page "right now." It appeared almost a month ago.

(36,220 posts)And NO it wasn't misleading.

(1,920 posts)The tweet never said "published right now," and neither did the OP.
It said "on" the website "right now," and it was, and is.
"Published right now" was not "claimed" or even implied, in my opinion, though you inferred it that way.
True, it wasn't posted here a month ago when it was published, as far as I know. It wasn't relevant then.
It may or may not be now.
I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, MineralMan. I'm simply setting the record straight about a deleted OP.
Peace.

(52,155 posts)Is this from that time frame? If so, it is relevant as all get out. I don't know the time frame involved so I don't know how relevant this is.

(1,920 posts)Not sure on the timeline of events as to stories and threats... just that the "Photo Gallery" the disputed pic is from does indeed currently appear on the Enquirer website.

(1,920 posts)The pic isn't there, it was in the OP that was deleted. The rest of the discussion remains.
The link I posted to the Enquirer website has the pic, plus six others.
The one that was posted and deleted is #4 in the "Photo Gallery."

(62,444 posts)Still don't know what this thread is about.
Whatever.
One thing I notice in communications fairly often is that is very common for a person to attempt to communicate something, but the person might not quite understand how the content of what they communicate does not reflect the information in their head which, yes, they completely understand, but which does not manage to make it into whatever they are communicating.

MineralMan
(146,281 posts)I suggested that the OP edit the original post to reflect the actual time when the article appeared. I never even hinted that the OP should delete the thread. Not even close.

I've done that a number of times, and appreciate corrections when I post an error.

(1,325 posts)Just because they're kicking the stuffing out of Trump, doesn't make them our "friends". Same with Comey, the NY Times, WaPo and any other lousy media outlet or government stooge. What these two "family values" idiots do with each other is none of my business. Do feel for the kids and jilted spouses in these things though.
I have always despised MSNBC for allowing Morning Joe on their channel. I don't respect Mika or Joe one spec. And I really don't give a shit about tabloid newspapers.
This is just more stupid distraction to keep us from learning about things that truly matter - like Fukushima, or the government cuts to agencies across the board, or blocking voters during elections, and how many cities and towns have lead in their drinking water right now, or 22 million starving to death on planet earth?
Can't wait until this stupid story goes away.

(1,325 posts)Yes, some of our papers get it right some of the time. Other times, they proudly and loudly carry water for the powers that be. Where is Sy Hersh's latest investigation on the phony Sarin gas attack in Syria? In a German newspaper. Why is the American press so fearful of reporting on views that run counter to what they "want" to report?

(2,496 posts)Scandal"? "Make it legal"?
It's not an "affair", as they are both single, and it is legal in any case. They are two people who are romantically involved. The fake prudishness and and anachronistic outrage is just more misogyny, an attempt at slut-shaming. Only in Donald Trump's sick subjective mind is this somehow payback.
Fake news! Sad.
