I think Trumpshit would like it if the credible press opted not to follow him around. He'd happily complain about them while pretending he hasn't been trying to marginalize them the whole time.

Fox, Breitbart, and other right-wing sources would still tag along, playing the state media as usual. And Trump would like that. Positive press from his fellow fascists and he gets to attack credible media all at the same time.

So sneak cameras and audio in whether they share it or not. Keep it as evidence.

With no audio/video allowed, Trump is setting it up to play you can't prove what was said - no matter what was said - should Spicey or Huckster Jr., say something newsworthy. And newsworthy can be both negative and positive - though positive news from Trump isn't going to happen.

It is also, more importantly, a power-play by Trump over the press. Trump revels in it. He thinks he has the Press beat.

They need to not act as victims but as stealth operatives in the resistance. There is no remaining neutral on this. This is their battle as well as our own. They are being attacked just like the rest of us. There's a real danger in pretending they have to remain impartial when they are being silenced - and not just them.

are like a shot across the bow to warn the Fourth Estate. Trump will do everything he can to strangle the power of press and curtail their duty to inform the public about what his Administration is up to. I fear that if the press were to stage a boycott in protest that Trump would win and he would gleefully turn out the lights and lock the door to the WH Press Office forever. Then we'd be on a downhill ride straight to a Banana Republic where the only information available to the public would come from Trump's insane tweets and glorified press releases extolling his magnificence.
