The injury is suddenly very, very bad.
Logically: He started his political career while doing PR for an MLM (NuSkin) that's been in deep shit with the FTC and SEC repeatedly. There's some pretty good circumstantial evidence that there's been financial shenanigans between his campaign, NuSkin, and multiple Chinese investors.
Practically: his district got somewhat changed. It's Utah, so it's nowhere near compact or contiguous and has big old Vast Tracts of Land, but he lost some of the most reliably conservative suburban SLC 'burbs, and gained a bunch that are moderate to liberal for Utah. His district is going to be much harder to retain, it's going to be a lot more expensive, and he made most of his campaign cash by bashing on Hillary Clinton. He no longer has that, and will actually have to perform to raise the money.
Speculatively: there are a lot of rumors in suburban SLC that there's another woman. In that area, that means 50-50 chance that it's a "spiritual wife" (polygamy) or the appearance of one, versus affair. Either one is poison. (Not that I can imagine *anyone* including the sealed wife wanting to get frisky with that, but the heart wants what it wants. 
)The first makes more sense to me, given the much harder fundraising and the probable NuSkin-China money laundering/extortion/possible blackmail (if someone has that dirt and used it as the stick to get him to eat the dirty money campaign carrot). Campaign money funneled into personal expenses wouldn't show up on the household budget.
