Why are Romney's supporters almost exclusively white?

I think it's time for the media to start examining this issue. Obama has no problem attracting people from all races and backgrounds. Romney, however, seems to attract mostly white people.

It's time for the media to start asking some serious questions about the Republican candidate for President. America is a diverse melting pot with many different kinds of people and any potential President needs to represent all the people, not just white people.

Remember this recent Romney ad? The ad only featured white people:

So Mitt Romney has a sappy new video out called The Promise of America. His basic message: that he will make America better by returning us to the nation we once were. He doesn't explain what that means, but if you look at this collage of every closeup shot in the video, one thing is clear: the America Mitt Romney sees is really, really white.

Why is Romney failing to attract people who aren't white? Is he even trying to attract minorities? This is a question the media needs to start asking.

It's clear, isn't it? The "Promise of America" didn't include African-Americans until, like, 200 years after it was made and romney (and the conservatives) make it clear they want to take America back to the pre-promise days.

2. Yes, preferably all the way back when

only white, male, landowners could vote. Now if the GOP could manage to disenfranchise everyone else, the election would be a cinch!

3. There are a lot of CEOs

and people who satellite around them that think civil rights are a horrible idea. And that women voting is a bad idea. Basically, if it doesn't cater to a powerful white male, it's a bad idea. Oh, women are portrayed in such videos, but they should be subservient, in the home and busy making more white male children. People of other races are only valued if they contribute to making a white male more powerful.

If you think I am kidding, ask any white southern male that votes Republican. They can't stand Mitt, but they long for the days when women, and other races were "under control". He has to push this sort of thing to be anywhere near authentic for the southern white male.

6. I think this is an excellent question for Social Scientists

I'm not sure (and I mean I'M NOT SURE) that in an election year, this is the primary tactic to take if you want to win votes.

I think race is an important discussion to have. I think that I am out-numbered by people who are tired of the subject. I wish that were not the case.

My hunch is that Romney is attempting to act as a "protector" for white people that are brainwashed into thinking they under siege in some kind of way...people that listen to reich wing talk radio and watch fox news.

These same people will flock to that protector and that's why most of his supporters are white. Romney is trying to appeal to them.
