Help me out here. Talking points for when we call Sect. of State about

the Trumpian request for all the states' voting records.

I know voter suppression (of those who would probably vote Democratic) is one reason that Trump wants this, but since my state is red as a baboon's arse, I don't think that reason will make much of an impact with the SOS.

1. Most important argument, imo, would be states' rights.

That's a bedrock issue for Repukes, so even they might care. Second would be the the right for voters to remain anonymous, for obvious reasons. I really cannot believe this is happening!

I just said, this is just wrong. I do not want my voting information shared with the administration.

It violates your right to a secret vote. No one should know how you vote, unless you tell them.

And which elections you've voted in is public information, right?

The only way to keep that private is not to vote-or, if it is party affiliation as an indicator of how you voted, don't vote in the primary ( or vote issues only)

let Trump and his minions dig it up themselves. Don't serve it up to him like a free lunch.

The way you dig out publicly available information is via a FOIA request. It may not be on the right form, but that's an administrative detail

As for whether it's publicly available-i've used that information both on behalf of move-on and the Democratic party in GOTV efforts . . . Good when we use it, but freak-out about privacy when the other side does the same thing?

(To the extent he is asking for private information, that is a legitimate concern, but we shouldn't waste time and energy being outraged about the release of public information to a government task force. Better to spend the outrage on the massive waste of time and money spent on a non-problem rather than on -say -health care.

1. Violating the principle of the secret ballot.
2. Social security and birthdate information is not publicly available.
3. There isn't any detail about how this information will be secured.
4. Potential lawsuits for violation of privacy if this information is simply turned over.
