Trump's tweets are not really that bizarre...

If he were just some regular jerk.

They are just the sort of thing some angry, asshole would post, usually anonymously.
They would also get them banned on most forums but we've all seen stuff like this.

But the fact he's doing it under the banner of The President of the United States shows he has no concept of what the presidency is.

He is fine with bringing down the primary representative office of our nation to the level of a reviled, small minded Internet troll and has no concern about what that does to us as a nation.

But he doesn't get to behave like a troll. He's the president, God help us, and he should be held to the standard of a president - which is that you don't fly into an unhinged Twitter rage whenever you feel insulted. I don't think he even gets the concept that there's a higher standard of behavior for a president; in his mind if he doesn't respond to an insult he will be seen as weak, which is the worst thing in the world. Presidents can't be weak. If Obama didn't lash out at his critics that only means he was weak, not that he was upholding the dignity of his office.

He is not going to change. The positive thing is that his tweets are likely to get him into legal trouble if they haven't already. He's like the criminal who's so proud of his crimes that he can't help bragging about them.

Has there ever been another head of state anywhere in the world who has behaved so childishly and indecorously? He has so lowered the dignity of the office it will take years to undo the damage.

A further purpose is to deflect news coverage from his critics.

For the media, this is the idea that media are his enemies. By attacking one news anchor, Trump lets every other one know that they could be next.

he assumed that being President of the USA would be no different than being President of his own company. He is not behaving any differently but what really ticks him off is that there is indeed a difference, and every one of his actions (or inaction) has very public consequences. He lives (according to his biographers) for revenge against all those he think has "done him wrong". He has no conscience, and certainly no concept of the responsibilities of his job -- only the status (and illegal $$$$) it brings.

The free world is truly disgusted by him. Because of that fact, he will either learn to behave, or (gawdhelpus) seek revenge in the ugliest, most dangerous manner. One can only hope that the saner ones around him can stop him somehow. It's obvious the GOP has no interest in doing so.

We have seen snarky, insensitive tweets or Facebook posts made by people go viral with the inevitable outcome that they lost their jobs within a few days. With this guy all we get are enablers and cheerleaders justifying the unjustifiable.

He has no decency or shame - likewise for his supporters. Sadly, he is exactly the president I thought he would be. And that is not a compliment.

Drags down the playing field in to a muddy mess in the future.

Saddest of all of that is how it will affect the next generation of kids. This is the President. This is the example of "anyone can grow up to be President". That now it includes anyone, like the class bully in their own school, who calls the girls nasty names, picks on weaker boys, and runs around with a posse of enablers who want to be popular. And that class bully himself, knows he doesn't have to "grow up" ever. He can continue his juvenile behaviour into adulthood and still be very successful as Trump has proven. That decency, intelligence, and respect for others is no longer a requirement to get ahead or even become President.
