The line could have easily been delivered by Murray and it was a complement to Biden.

I think Biden has been great of late. Even his foibles are genuine.

I agree it was classic.

And yes you are getting old.

Dude, my knees hurt so damn much last week I had to go online to determine what was wrong with me, turns out, I am getting old.

I did learn about RICE.

Rest
Ice
Compress
Elevate

In my implementation world it means Reports, Interfaces, Customizations, Extensions.

Guess which one will be used by me more often over the next 10 years.

3. Offshore Tax Haven

Jul 2012

I have a question based on an article in the Los Angeles Times dated December 19th 2007. “Romney utilized offshore tax havens to help investors”.

It was reported that “While in private business, Mitt Romney used shell companies in two offshore tax havens to help eligible investors avoid paying US taxes, federal and state records show.”

Could it be possible some of Mitt Romney’s biggest donors might be some of those same people he helped avoid paying their US taxes.

After all, if you are trying to raise serious funds, who do you call? I'd start with people that I KNOW have lots of money, and especially ones that owe me a favor or two.

Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors, Ltd. One of the programs on MSNBC this afternoon pointed out that on Ann Romney's disclosure (remember, Mitt transferred HIS shares to her ONE day before his swearing in as Governor hence it would be her responsibility to report), this company was valued at only $10,000.00 and a guest pointed out it could be being used as a 'flow-through' account which, to me, is very much a shell company. Many millions could flow through it and the value, for reporting purposes, could be stated as being worth $10,000.00. It was an eye-opening discussion. I think it may have been on Hardball but am not totally sure.

Welcome to DU and thanks for bringing this aspect to our attention, it is a very interesting one.

I'm getting the same giddy feeling of excitement in watching this Romney offshore/tax thing unfold as I get when reading a good novel. I don't know why. It feels like I've just finished reading the first chapter of a really good mystery, and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds. And like any good book, you know the best part is still ahead. It certainly feels like there is a great, epic story waiting to be told here. I hope that I'm not disappointed...

if the money had been in a U.S. bank instead wouldn't it have more likely been used to fund home loans and car loans and small business loans and other things FOR AMERICANS? I don't know what happens to money in international institutions but it would seem to follow that it gets "deployed" on an international basis, potentially helping anybody or anything that offers the highest return. Iran? Drug cartels? Is that patriotic? Does somebody like that belong in the White House?
