Trump proposes end to heating aid for low-income Americans

Trump proposes end to heating aid for low-income Americans
AP...Updated: 3:11 PM EDT Jul 2, 2017

PORTLAND, Maine. —
The summer air is sizzling as the Fourth of July approaches, yet 86-year-old Richard Perkins already worries about how he's going to stay warm this winter.

President Donald Trump has proposed eliminating heating aid for low-income Americans, claiming it's no longer necessary and rife with fraud. People needn't worry about being left in the cold, he says, because utilities cannot cut off customers in the dead of winter.

But he is wrong on all counts.

"It's beyond my thinking that anyone could be that cruel," said Perkins, a retired restaurateur who relies on the program to keep warm in Ogunquit, Maine.

A Christmas Carol (1843) by Charles Dickens

"At this festive season of the year, Mr Scrooge, ... it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
"Are there no prisons?"
"Plenty of prisons..."
"And the Union workhouses." demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"
"Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

What happened recently, besides it currently being summer in the Northern hemisphere? What suddenly happened that would mean that freezing people don't need warmth?

When I first read this headline, I thought he was cutting off hearing aids.

Just another plot to kill off the poor though.

She's also disabled and relies on Obamacare to get insurance. Trump and his Republican buddies are literally trying to murder my friends and family.

We are supposed to fear foreign terrorists while the biggest threat to all Americans is a unified republican dictatorship that is determined to kill as many sick, old and poor people as it can, strip their social safety net assets and give it to BILLIONAIRES!!

That's the terror I fear, Trump's and the 1% republican killer government!
