I am guilty of it too, bigly. I call the shit show we are living in exactly that. I call unfounded allegations "bullshit" or sometimes "horseshit" as a change of pace, when I am merely talking about alternative facts without any supporting evidence. Why draw attention to something we all do, as quietly and unobtrusively as we possibly can, just to make some point about truthiness or the lack thereof? That stinks, another thing we try to avoid with sprays and such. Just because a piece of shit was elected President and he is an ignorant orange anus is no justification for shit shaming. Shit is just turds that cannot be polished until they fossilize eons from now on the dead planet the Republican shits will leave behind after they have raped it for every dime they can squeeze out of it.

Shit shaming may have psycho-physical consequences like constipation or Montezuma's revenge. Isn't it bad enough that Drumpf makes us want to puke all the time? Can't we just throw "fits" instead of "shit fits?" Couldn't we just say "f**k this" without adding the "s" word at the end?

That's part of the reason I have C-PTSD (Complex PTSD).

Some diseases aren't "popular" in terms of public awareness, fundraising or sympathy. Some of them are a dirty, disgusting secret.

Being shit-shamed is your life when you grow up with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and I feared it terribly. Back then there weren't online support groups either. You were alone with your nasty secret.

If struggling to stay alive through massive blood loss 20 times a day, excruciating pain and having no life isn't bad enough, people with chronic illnesses such as Ulcerative Colitis (me), Crohn's disease, and other life-threatening bowel diseases hope we can hide our shitty symptoms from the rest of the world because you've been humiliated so regularly and all you can think of is surviving the next attack/getting to a bathroom in time.

Also, if you're not home, and you suddenly ARE running to find a bathroom because you're about to Lose Your Shit, you pray you won't encounter strangers who will attack you for being disgusting. That happened to me more times than I want to remember.

Because--shit shaming.

I had a bag for several years, long ago and I'd have been happy to shove that BAG OF SHIT so far down his throat, it would fall out his ass.

Now I have an internal thingy---and I'd love to walk into the next cabinet closed meeting and whip out my catheter, stick it in the hole in my gut and strafe them ALL. It would melt their goddamn rich, white, sociopathic faces.

It's not looking for pity and comfort so much, like it used to be. It's just my response, rather than shamefully feeling bad but saying nothing.

It's also a kind of public service message, because more people than you might think suffer from these diseases. Many people young and old die of them too (I nearly died myself), but generally people aren't aware of how serious IBD is. It's "just a gross bathroom thing, and bags/people with bags are disgusting".

I took care of my incontinent bedridden mother for 5 years. There was nothing she could do about it and though it was not easy to do I made sure she never developed rashes or bed sores, I did manage to keep her skin in good condition.
