The NYPD is regularly held up as one of the most sophisticated and significant counterterrorism operations in the country. As evidence of the NYPD's excellence, the department, its allies and the media have repeatedly said the department has thwarted or helped thwart 14 terrorist plots against New York since Sept 11.

In a glowing profile of Commissioner Ray Kelly published in Newsweek last month, for example, journalist Christopher Dickey wrote of the commissioner's tenure since taking office in 2002: The record "is hard to argue with: at least 14 full-blown terrorist attacks have been prevented or failed on Kelly's watch."



The figure has been cited repeatedly in the media, by New York congressmen, and byKelly himself. The NYPD itself has published the full list, saying terrorists have "attempted to kill New Yorkers in 14 different plots."

As Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in March: "We have the best police department in the world and I think they show that every single day and we have stopped 14 attacks since 9/11 fortunately without anybody dying."

Is it true?

1. The effing cops are worse than terrorists!!!!

I am way more afraid of just running into a roid raged lying sack o crap pig,
than any "terrorists", the pigs in america kill a few people every day & nothing
ever happens to them.

So help me god, I would never set foot in NYC, & when ordering anything if it is from NY or any teabagger state, I will do without it.

3. the cops here are much better than in Los Angeles

I have met and dealt with many cops here and never had any problem. When I found my neighbor dead in her apartment, the police who responded were, dare I say, sensitive and very professional.

I have seen police here counseling homeless people and telling them where they can get services. I have seen them light citizens' cigarettes for them, give directions, pose for pictures, recommend restaurants, and warn tourists that their backpack is open.

4. They did not look that nice..........

....when beating the crap out of women & peaceful protesters last year.

Oh yea, shooting 4 people up, unarmed, on the way from bachelor party, that was a good one. Oh yea, the toilet plunger precinct, we can't forget those nice boys.

My friend had a house near Plattsburg NY, while driving he witnessed a cop throwing a gun into someones car, after confronting them, they beat him good & threatened to kill him.

I worked with a guy who's bro is a cop, while out riding m/c's they were smoking good weed the pigs brought.

When asked where he got it, he responded they get all their weed for free. When the cop was asked for some for free, he said they always kept some in order to plant it in any car they pull over.
