‘He doesn’t speak for the rest of America’: Jerry Brown shows up in Hamburg amid G20 — and shreds Trump

Speaking to over 12,000 environmental activists in Hamburg, California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) announced plans for a global environmental summit in San Francisco next year, telling the crowd that President Donald Trump “doesn’t speak” for America.

According to the LA Times, Brown spoke at the Global Citizen Festival Hamburg while Trump was in Poland on Thursday, prior to the G-20 Summit.

Noting Trump’s plans to withdraw from the Paris environmental accords, the California governor lashed out at the president, saying his state will take the lead in fighting climate change.

“It’s hard to grasp the mortal danger that climate change represents,” Brown explained. “I believe that California, New York, France and Germany and the other countries — we have to get our act together, strengthen our commitment and bring as many nations along as we can.”

In a video posted to YouTube, Brown took on Trump and said he does not speak for and reflect the desires on almost 70 percent of Americans who want the government to be more “aggressive” in taking on climate change — not roll back protections.

I admire him greatly and wanted to vote for him back in 1992 (but he had already dropped out by the time PA had its primary). But we have to encourage the next generation to step up and build up his type of street cred.

and am not so naive to think that people can live forever.

One of the things that I remember my mother saying (and she would have been 87 this year) is that no one from her generation (the ones born at the dawn of the Depression) was ever elected President. Sometimes you have a generation that goes through unique experiences that may open up possibilities for guiding a nation on a different path or over seemingly intractable hurdles or bringing about fresh thinking.

This is nothing more than the reality of human nature over tens of millennia, the elders are revered for their wisdom, but they also know to pass the torch on.... and there's nothing one can really do about it.

I voted for him in the 70s. And I voted for him again most recently. Voted for him for governor four times! I'd do it s fifth and sixth time if he weren't probably headed for retirement at the end of the current term. He's getting up there - oldest governor in our state's history.

He's our 34th governor and our 39th governor.

I hope Brown makes himself and his message (Trump doesn't speak for the rest of America) very evident at Hamburg and continues
to repeat it loud and wide wherever and whenever possible. It's not only spot on true, but it's also a great way to humiliate/troll thin skinned Trump on the international stage.
