Sally Yates slams Trump’s defense of Putin, says it leaves America open to future attack

By Oliver Willis | July 7, 2017

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates said Donald Trump's refusal to blame Russia for influencing the 2016 election leaves America vulnerable to future attacks.

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates blasted Donald Trump’s continued defense of Vladimir Putin.

Referencing Trump’s insistence that Putin not be blamed for trying to influence the 2016 election, Yates wrote, “POTUS’ inexplicable refusal to confirm Russian election interference insults career intel pros & hinders our ability to prevent in future.”

Yates was fired by Trump after she refused to enforce his discriminatory travel ban on Muslims.

In congressional testimony that the White House tried to quash, Yates revealed that she had warned the Trump administration on multiple instances that National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s Russian connections meant he was potentially compromised. Trump went ahead and granted Flynn access to classified top secret materials.

In response to her testimony, the Trump administration used the White House briefing to promote office gossip against Yates.

Her latest comment shows the White House’s efforts to silence her have failed.
