I mean seriously. Does everyone realize how much damage could be done to us in an 18 month time span??

It could be wrapped up earlier than that if enough evidence is revealed that would warrant the calling of a federal grand jury.

I don't think Mueller has given a time frame, though, so far.

In any case, we, as Democrats, need to be working hard toward the 2018 mid-term elections, starting last week. We must achieve a massive turnout by Democratic voters, regardless of what the investigation comes up with.

Now that Trump (possibly) will give Putin free reign in our computer systems.

Have we done anything to prevent Russia from hacking 2018 or has our administration aided them?

6. Elections are run by the states, and by counties in those states.

That has always been the case, so it's going to be up to those states and counties to safeguard our voting rights.

I'm sure they're aware of those efforts to interfere and that most of them will try to prevent such interference.

The best protection is to produce a massive turnout of Democratic voters for each election. That will help ensure a positive outcome.

10. I live in Texas

My voting rights are not safeguarded.

Plus, Texas is one of the few states that said they will comply with Kobach's voter fraud prevention efforts.

Regardless, how will Texas or any other state stop Russian interference? Shouldn't the federal government be doing that?

How does interference get stopped? That's an IT problem, really. The federal government could play a role, but only if the states invite them to. Voting is one of those states' rights issues that is closely guarded by the states.

Here's an idea: Ask your Secretary of State what measures they are putting into place to ensure voter security and accuracy of elections. Ask your county election official the same question. It's your state and your county. I don't live in Texas. You can be involved in helping to make sure that your elections are run properly. Your local and state Democratic Party should also be involved in insisting that the Secretary of State is implementing such measures. Are they? I don't know. I don't live in Texas. You do.

Here in Minnesota, we have an outstanding election process, with many checks and balances and a paper record of every ballot. We've had two statewide recounts in recent years, where every paper ballot was tallied. The results of the initial count were confirmed in both cases, with only very minor discrepancies. Our DFL party monitors every election very, very closely and our voters have insisted that our elections and districts are properly handled.

17. I am. And yes I do, in EVERY single one.

I am involved. But the level of voter suppression here is very deep.

Maybe instead of saying "I," I should have said "a person." The voter ID laws are absolutely awful here plus they've shut down a large amount of DPS offices so that people in rural areas have to travel sometimes up to several hours to obtain an ID.

My big thing is since we already know that Russia gained access to the voter rolls, including in Dallas, which I live in a suburb of, after Kobach gets this info. Which will include how I am registered and how I voted before, what's to prevent them from purging me and other Dems off of the voter rolls.

They can't do that? That's not legal? That's not ethical? The constitution?

Take a look around. Is any of that stuff stopping them from anything else they are doing?

But.... someone on Twitter said that the fact that he has hired all of those prosecutors means that they are preparing their cases and aren't spending time investigating.

We are all impatient but it's gonna take as long as it takes, I guess.

and have a ton of other benefits. Several Dem congressmen want one and introduced a bill that the GOP won't sign onto it for their own reasons. We need this but by the time most people realize it, it will be a little late. It needed to start two months ago actually.

If Trump's rap sheet doesn't appear to threaten their chances in 2018 and 2020, the GOP will do absolutely nothing. Further, since I am increasingly confident that the GOP has already stolen the 2018 election, we should not expect any action at all.

Trump could kill and eat fifteen babies on national TV, dedicating their sacrifice to the immortal god-czar Putin, and McConnell won't do shit.

But if President Hillary Clinton had had a parking ticket validated by the Russian embassy, she'd have been impeached, jailed, and executed before sundown on inauguration day.

It arguably might be anyway with Gorsuch but if he gets another his impact on the bench will be felt for probably the next 15-20 years. And that's to say nothing of all the lower court appointees.
