(64,860 posts)A black tux makes everyone look somewhere between "cooler than they actually are" and James Bond.
Not these two.

(64,860 posts)Just kidding! I did say black tux though. I remember prom too. Lot's of guys had some really garish colors of triple layer foam polyester. Of course, it was the early 70's.
I did black pants, white DB dinner jacket, and black bowtie. I actually thought i was James Bond for a minute. Then i remembered i was just this high school kid.

(64,860 posts)I even got a haircut for the prom so the pictures would look nice, and the girl i went with wasn't a girlfriend, just a friend i had known for a dozen years or so. I had broken off things with my girlfriend a couple months before, and she had broken up with her boyfriend around the beginning of that year.
So, we're talking and just decided it was ok for the two pals to go to prom together. She bought the tickets to her prom, and i bought the tickets to mine and we went to both on the same night. Then i paid for the dinner, but she bought lunch the next day went we went up to Galena to the state park for the day.
And, the pictures turned out good. Come to think of it, damn it, i did look like James Bond!

(492 posts)But this picture looks badly Photoshopped to me.
Fucks up the message when you have to distort reality to make your point.

(5,644 posts)I reedited the image twice to put the quote on it because it looked like I had accidently pasted the photoshopped one when i was done but no it wasn't.

(5,128 posts)Compare to the REAL original, below.
The one you posted is a gently tweaked PS variant, including slope left eye for Eric, and smeary lips for Jr.
Extra chins on both. The Eric eye is what got me looking.

Tell your friend to check out "Leap,"
by Terry Tempest Williams
She spent several years studying Garden of Earthly Delights, and the book is mindbending
She'd sit for hours studying the original in the Prado, often reaching semi-hallucinatory states
fascinating read:
