(22,665 posts)Where what they're saying is worded to be true, but is really a lie. Like if tRump were the person who ate the last cookie and someone asked who took the last cookie, tRump would say, there was one in there earlier. Yes, there was. It was the one you ate, as*hole.

(82,849 posts)Even an outright lie is defended: "What a beautiful sunny day!" "No, it's raining cats and dogs - look outside." "I meant in Miami Beach."
Misdirection seems to work best, though. After Junior's disclosure of the e-mail chain that led to his meeting with the Russian lawyer, Team Trump was out in force to claim that oppo research was a longstanding tradition in American campaigns. Everyone looks for usable dirt on their opponent. Yeah, but that's not what we're talking about, is it? We're talking about illegal foreign influence on our election, not oppo research. And while you're knocking down the bogus talking point, along comes the indignant, "Are you saying that Hillary didn't do oppo research? Of course she did! Why is it only Trump who's held responsible for doing oppo research?! You're the real colluder!"
