from Press TV:
Addiction specialists suspect that so-called bath salts may be playing a part in an outbreak of crimes committed by naked people across the United States and even in Canada.
Mephedrone, the active ingredient in bath salts, is a synthetic stimulant that users say makes them feel energized and confident. At toxic levels, however, the drug reportedly causes intense confusion and sometimes violent rage, spikes in body temperature and hallucinations.
After a series of recent crimes in Arizona, police began to see a pattern.
I wouldnt approach naked people running around the streets of Phoenix, Phoenix Police Sgt. Eric Wyckoff told Fox 10. Generally speaking, if you run into a naked man out here, we found theres usually some kind of illicit narcotic on board, he added. .........(more)

(24,331 posts)Press TV could better be summed up as "any story that makes Iran look good and America look like degenerates, no matter how badly we have to sodomize the facts."
Second, despite the moral panic over "bath salts," this set of claims have already been discredited. There's no link between bath bath salts and the "zombie" attack, and there is in fact no evidence of an "outbreak of crimes" at all. It's pure "summer of the shark" crap, creating a panic by reporting on stuff that's not new.

(16,230 posts)You'll find many US news sources attributing the same quotes to him and he apparently made the remarks to a Phoenix news station, so I don't think it's Iranian propaganda.
That said, I'm not aware of Police Sgt. Eric Wyckoff being an expert on "bath salts" so this seems to be strictly his opinion.
