The line of thought I can't stand: "national politics doesn't affect my day-to-day life"

i understand the line of thought behind "all politics is local" but to say national politics aren't as important is woefully myopic.

When people you know get deported, national politics matter.

When the air and groundwater is polluted, national politics matter.

When the price of living goes up and down, when inflation soars and dives, national politics matter.

When hurricanes or tornadoes or floods ravage your town, national politics matter.

When your bridges or roads fall apart, national politics matter.

National politics affect every sphere of our lives in myriad ways many never consider. Our very tranquility or ability to pursue happiness is a result of national politics. It's where the buck stops.

Using it as an excuse for willful ignorance is a cop out.

Health insurance changes are going to hit them hard since Republicans think actual care should be restricted to the male and preferably rich.

Local politics is always impacted by national politics.

"I'm just not into politics" as an excuse not to vote, get involved, discuss the issues, etc. That line just outrages me!! A lot of these people are also in positions where they would have a lot to lose if the wrong people got into power and they just don't seem to make the connection. It's difficult to keep your composure around such people.

All of us don't deserve it, but the majority do deserve it.
