None of this news (spies, lawyers, collusion, etc.) matters right now.

The GOPee congress won't do jack shit about it.

The DOJ leadership won't do jack shit about it.

The news is just water cooler fodder.

On the other hand, the special counsel is almost certainly all over it. In secret.

It will only matter to US if one or both of these events occur:

1. The Special Counsel releases its findings and takes appropriate action.

2. Democrats regain control of one or both houses of congress.

Until then, this is all little more than Saturday morning cartoons.

I'm gratified that despairing and discouragement-oriented posts like this are becoming less and less common as the momentum builds...

It's obvious laws have been broken already after all. Doesn't even have to be a good arrest, just need to get one person under oath.

I'll be the grownup here and have nothing more to do with you. You get the last word.

But . . . . you gave yourself away. Gad. It never ends, does it?

Anyway, as I promised, the last word is yours.

By the way, can you use "lass ass" in a sentence?

People can disagree with you - in my case, insisting that ongoing pressure on the Russia scandal matters - without warranting your accusing them of being Republican. That's just low.

Rather than bothering much with the scandals. Nothing will get done about them until/unless Mueller releases his conclusions AND one house of congress is controlled by Democrats.

Meanwhile, EYE ON THE BALL - healthcare, budget. FIGHT IT. EVERY. DAY. Call, email, go visit your Rep's offices if you can. EVERY. DAY. Go to town halls and protests and raise holy HELL.

I DO have hope.

ALL OF THIS matters now. You are probably right that we will not be able to do anything about it for some time, but you are dead wrong when you say this news doesn't matter.

It is more important than ever that the rest of us, the ones paying attention, know what is happening when it is happening. It is more important than ever that this news gets out as much as possible to as many as possible.

Stop with the "respect for the office of the President" nonsense. We've got protecting the environment and standing up to authoritarianism and bullying on one side and this 'respect' on the other, we are lunatics if we side with the latter. We need to crack the bully pulpit.

We need to target any and all systems that reinforce corruption and hate. We can do this from the bottom as easily from the top via representatives.

There were tropes and cliches that bolstered this injustice, if we're not deflating them, then we're not really fighting the Trump administration.

Most presidents ignored them. Trump takes everyone as a personal affront and threatens thermonuclear war every time he sees something he doesn't like. People like that make bigger and quicker mistakes than those with level heads.

They hit the roof at the tiniest bit of negative press covfefe.
